Default hardwireing a radar detector

so i was gonna attempt to hardwire in my radar detector today and well i can't seem to figure out what wire i should use for the power one. i was thinking of hooking it up to my radio so that when the radio is on the radar would come on, but it is a pain in the *** to get to those wires.
anyone ever done this? if so anyone have any hints on what wire i could use.i want something that when i turn on the car it will come on.

thanks in advance

why don't you use the 12V switched power in the ignition harness.

but it is a pain in the *** to get to those wires
you want wires that are easy to get to??? How ******* delusional are you?

There are actually two or three male terminal connectors in your fuse box that you can use...no cutting or splicing...just use a female spade connector and you are done.

That sounds to complicated. I was figuring why you just don't tap power from the "ACC" wire that leads to the Radio. This has it's own "ACC" fuse too. That's How I controlled my sister's CD changer. And it is switched on by switching your key to the "ACC" position.

Do you have a test light? Use a test light or a volt meter to find a position in your fuse box that is energized with the key on. (as mentioned previously this is the BEST way because it keeps the connections/fuse in ONE place).

Where will you be mounting the detector? One of the advantages to hard-wired is that you can conceal them a little more than with the cigarette adapter. As far as haveing to replace the detector, you should leave enough slack on the detector side of your wire run to be able to re-wire another adapter if needed.

i was planning on putting it on the ACC wire of the radio, but it was a pain in the *** to get back to it. so its just in the fuse box. the adapert will fit most radra detectors. so if i need a new one i can just use the sam

like ITR-01-0977 said, there are male terminals in the fuse box that are not being used. you can use those for accessories and stuff. or you can splice into the cigarette lighter wire... ...easier to get to, remove and splice.
