Whats Wrong with the HF?
Whats really wrong with the HF CRX? Sure you don't have the D16 like in the Si, but most change the engine out anyway. The suspension isn't greatest or sportiest, but thats why you lower it and put on springs or better yet, coilovers. The brakes just plain suck, but there's big brake kits (you'll need it with a new engine). Rims, well those get changed out know matter who you are. Why start with the heaviest of them, the Si. Sure the HF nametag isn't cool, and you don't start with a fuel injected D16, but the wiring would be easier than having a DX as a project, the HF is also fuel injected and its the lightest frame. So think about that on your next CRX purchase. They are also the cheapest!!!

Yeah??
Nobody says the hf is bad, just that the stock motor sucks...
Sure it comes with no swaybars or anything, but like you said, it can all be added. Gotta love the deleted rear wiper! I wish that we had HF's in Canada, because I'd buy one and turn it into an all out drag car... here's to the lightest EF of them all!

All I've ever seen is the Si this and the Si that, just want to see the HF get credit, it has potential. I've seen a few HF drivers, just wanted to get the word out, thats all.
I'm still pretty new, not on this site much. But when I do see CRX related forum, its usually a Si forum. And why not spread its fame, the CRX is a great car, and the HF is one of them.
which HF are you referring to? the 2nd gen type?
I have an 86 HF and its pissing me off right now cuz I dont know what to swap and I cannot find info anywhere on the EFI conversion and what its going to cost

Me too...
Me too...
the HF is a good car. Its a great Daily driver. And for a crappy engine it does have a good speed if u drive it right. But i wont keep up with any other inport. Well maybe a geo. But great project car. And easy to swap due to having the MPFI and not the DPFI.
Hail to the HF and all its glory!!!!

I love my 88 HF, although I weighed it at the track one night and it came out to like 1900 lb, I do have DX front brakes, and at the time a D15B2 with The Si's IM and Computer, aftermarket exauhst, and some heavy wheels. (I need light wheels)
The 2 things that I like the DX/Si over the HF would be the brakes and the rear hatch with the wiper since I like having it. *BUT* both of those things could be added to the HF so if I had a choice I would have started my project onto an HF over the DX which I am doing since it would have saved me the time in swapping over harnesses since I didnt want to have to worry about the wiring.

You're complaining about 1900lbs!!!
My car weighed in at 2380 with me in it. I would love to be at your weight.
Of course I have a full interior, spare, B16, WW kit, and 16" heavy rims. Plus I'm fat.

Quick HF fact: The 2nd Gen. has the quickest steering ratio of all three trims.
I have an 89 HF but rust is starting to take overand it makes me sad.
I would love to find a rust free CRX and start a new project but I'd have to sell my 00' Si and I don't think I can to that.

No, no envy. The Si is a great car (was trying to find one for my brother, but couldn't so we bought a DX) its just a little heafty. And I couldn't get why people change out the Si's engine when yo can have a VERY light car with the same engine. Sure theres teh sun roof  but thats what body shops are for. All CRX's are great cars, don't get me wrong, but the HF need's some recognition.
Now for another question:
Which should I get?
1994 del Sol Si (has the DOHC VTEC, right) or an 1988 CRX HF?

I don't think the del Sol Si has DOHC VTEC. For that, you need to get the actual VTEC model del Slo. The Si is just the D16Z6 sohc vtec if I'm remembering this correctly. And the HF has no potential with the stock engine
I was looking for an Hf too, but I found a Dx for 700 bucks!!!!!! Who can argue with that.... I am still looking for the Hf though. How much weight difference is the Dx to the Hf? Enough to know and feel the difference???
