Default What distributor????

I have an 89 civic Si with a d16y8 engine running off of the p28 ecu. Ever since the engine was installed I have been throwing codes 4 and 9. Then it had gotten worse the engine started to spudder and then not shift past 3,000 rpm. So I changed the distributor, I was running the 97 d16y8 distributor and then purchased another y8 distributor and still the same thing the car gets really hot and now I am throwing code 3 as well. Should I go to the 91 si distributor will that fix it. I am tired of throwing codes and my car running like ****. What do I do. If going to the 4th gen distributor will fix it I will do or should I get a distributor off of a 5th gen civic. PLEASE HELP I am very desperate.

Does anyone know if when I go the the 92-95 ex distributor if that will fix the spuddering. I dont know how to get rid of it, and somebody told me that it was caused by the distributor and I dont know if that is true.

spuddering is the dizzy. make sure your timing is correct. try re-tarding or advancing the dizzy timing.

Just FYI, a Z6 dizzy will not line up without modification.
