Default Project Rsx seats

Well I knew it wasn't gonna be easy but I got the seats dirt cheap (500 for the set) so I'm gonna do it. So here they are!

While comparing the two rails of course they don't match up, in fact hardly at all. As you can see on the front two bolt mounts the Prelude's angle outwards away from the rail a good inch at about a 45 degree angle. The Rsx's front two angle straight down and are mounted the opposite direction facing the rear. One of the rear mounts on both seats are very simliar so thats where I will start. The other mount in the rear is angled down on the rsx where the preludes is flat.

Test fitting by just dropping them in I found they sit very similar. A tad higher bout half an inch but I think that will be fixed when I make the angled rear mount flat. Lumbar support adjustment is bad ***! Anyway so here's the plan. I'm gonna hack off the three mounts that wont work in the car. With some flat iron I'm gonna bend them to proper location and weld them to the rail and then paint them so they look pretty. A few things to think about if you wanna do this is the rsx mounts are about an inch to narrow width wise and the length between mounts is about 2-3 inches to short on the length of the rail so you must make the mounts to accomadate this. I'll keep everyone updated and I'll post pics of the process.

Is there any chance that the seat rails could come off? If so I would get sparco set rails.

Whoa building your own header!? This guy has guts. Have you read the article the guy thats building the H22 Powered Mini has? Some dude building it for his bike motor powered car. He had hell with that thing. Good luck I really wanna see that when its done.

Update: Building the mounts sat. and hope to have them in for this weekends autocross.

What does an RSX front seat weigh? I know the stock Prelude seats, although not very comfy IMHO, are pretty freakin light at like 27lbs with rails + sliders attached.

Yes the rsx seats are considerabaly heavier than the preludes. I'd say like maybe 5-6 lbs. Its the damn side airbag. Oh well and actually they don's sit much higher at all. Although the top of the seat are very tall. My dad and I worked on them today. I have some shots to show you what we did. I'll post them maybe after tomarrows road race.

how do you like them so far? are they hot in the summer?

I bought front + back beige leather seats out of an RSX-S to put in my girlfriend's 2002 civic. supposedly it is pretty easy to fit them in.

I should be getting them on the 30th, freight shipping from florida to CA =

Sorry to hear about your ride prelude1897. How'd it happen. The road race was unreal. I felt like I was playing Gran Turismo 3 in real life!!! It also feels very good to be waved passed by a 911 turbo, 350Z, and an S2000. Unfortunately you could only pass on the straight for safety reasons but I still was running faster than most the cars out thier. I was only passed once by a Vette Z06 but I was very surprized I could hang with him through the turns. But once it came to the straight he left me pretty bad. Well now I'm addicted, I need to pay my car off so I can turn into an all road race car or something...who knows for now. Oh and the seats, to the guy who asked about how they are well they aren't in yet. We're still making the brackets. Went to the depot and bought some steel and we're gonna bend them to an approx. position and then weld them to the rail. After that drill a hole and strap them in. Taking the old brackets off was hell. We had to drill the rivits out and damn that took forever. Well those are off all thats left is to make those brackets. I'll have an entire write up with pics of the whole process once its finished. Thanks for posting everyone

Glad to hear about the race. And turning the prelude into a race car, is a great idea only if you have a back up daily driver, and some contant flow of money to keep up with maintance and entry fees. You know I wanna just gut the hell out of my prelude and race the hell out of it...... The feeling of shifting from 2nd to 3rd and remaining in VTEC is really addicting.

I couldn't agree more. Road racing makes autocross look like crap sorry to say hehe. I was hitting 4th at times on the straight I was really bookin out their, and I'm really mostly stock.
