Alabama SCCA Super Summer Shootout July 6th, Huge Course
Hey all. Gee I hope the event title sounds catchy enough. We wish to host a
"shootout" of the best drivers around and hope that you will come and race
your buddies. OK, the Alabama region may not have the ability to put on a two
day Solo 2 event but we have one heck of a big venue to run. On July 6th we
are going to DOUBLE the size of the course and run both of the upper and lower
lots which to those who have been at the Birmingham Race Course, that makes
one huge course (probably in the 2 minute range). If it does not make it the biggest Solo 2 venue in the Southeast it does not miss it by much.
The course will be very
long, open, and challenging. Competitors will get 3 to 5 runs depending on
field size and this event will NOT be open to novice drivers (must have three
events under your belt). But wait there is more!! How about an event t-shirt
thrown in the deal to impress your friends and start bragging conversations.
We want the drivers to have a good time so we are even going to grill out
hot dogs, provide chips, and drink which is included in your entry. There will
be trophies too. We will be promoting this to various regions and hope to get
a draw from all around, Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana. We plan on
making this a yearly event to come and take on the best and everyone just have
a good time. Please look for an entry form to be up on the alscca.org website
which unfortunately at this moment is being changed to a new web server so the
event is not posted on the site. It will be up soon so stay tuned. So if you
are not going to the beach July 4th weekend come trounce your competition at
the Shootout.

Yeah, the Solo 2 Chair didn't check that far out in the calendar for the NT. He looked in the general SEDIV area and saw no coflict. Or so he thought. These things are tough to schedule. The event may take a date shift slightly next year to find its niche. I kid you not running both the upper and lower lots makes for a huge course. I don't know how big the "black lake" in South Carolina is but from the limited pics I have seen we may be bigger. A two minute or so run would be fun. We want to make it a gathering and a lot of fun. Sorry you guys can't make it. We will try and avoid the NT conflict next year. Thanks.

The black lake was HUGE but I don't think you could get a dual 2 second course. You guys must have like 5 square miles of asphault or something. Even the black lake was huge and was only about a 65 second course.
I can't wait to go back there next year. Probably the most fun auto-x course I've driven.
