Dashboard pictures
I'm about to get started with the fabrication of my dashboard. Some of you guys are using the stock dash, that's not an option for me. And I'm already sick of the guages being wiretied to the roll cage.
Does anyone have a pictures of custom dashes for me to get some ideas from?

That's good stuff. I was thinking of doing in either sheet metal or fiberglass. I would like to learn how to fiberglass, which is basically the only reason I've considered it.. Plus I have a big garbage bag full of scrap woven glass.
I was thinking of an MKIV supra type dash, where everything is centered around the driver (dash for guages, center console for indicator lights, and switches.)
See you Sunday! Hopefully it doesn't rain...because I just got a new set of 13x8 wheels/slicks that I want to try out. But if it rains, I'll probably just use my brothers stock del sol rims with Azenis. I'm hoping we will give the sprites a run for thier money!

I got some new tires on the HX's, plus a new Bene rear strut bar, so I can't wait to push the setup...too bad I'm back to stock engine
I think a fiberglass dash would look good. Somewhere on here, Ausmith went through how he made that dash...looked pretty straight forward and fairly light

Here is mine although the pic shows the whole interior you can probably get the feeling for it. The guage panel projects out and slants toward the driver and the fire system trigger is mounted on the end.
I to be this guy but rules are rules. I will protest anyone with a non-factory dash because of the amount of time I spent with my cage and factory dash. Covered under Rule 3.6.
Yes, it is an SCCA F Prod racer and will race in H1 when I get near an event (Putnam this fall I hope). The dash and all of the other parts are legal in H1 if the car is a fully legal Prod car including the underachiever engine. The dash would not be legal in IT or associated classes.

Are you talking about the red car in the picture above? How is that dash legal for H1? There's no difference is the HC rules on dashes between the classes.

No, I'm talking about my car with the primarily black interior. If the car is legal and built to all rules for its SCCA Prod class including any dash and all the other stuff (engine, tires, etc.), then it is legal for H1. You can't pick and choose from multiple rule packages (say mostly SCCA Prod but also a hybrid swap). Obviously this dash would not be allowed for a full H1 only car but a stock dash is a minor concession since H1 allows tons of power adding engine options. Light dash or 50-100 extra horsepower...hmmmm, not a brain tickler.
The original post wanted to see custom dashes so this is mine.

I disagree with your position. What stops me from classifying the car a SPU spec and running force induction then? If anyone else would comment please feel free.

The SCCA Production classes E through H are recognized nationally and the F through H are placed in HC H1 through H3. SPU (Super Production Under XX displacement) is not a SCCA nationally recognized class as it is a wide catch all used in some regionals to let otherwise orphaned cars run. It does not fit in the SCCA Production class restrictions (no tube chassis for example) so it isn't likely in the HC rules maker's plan. If you have a legal SPU car, you should approach the HC rulesmakers and see if it can be added. Either way, forced induction is specifically not allowed in HC or SCCA club racing.
Check out the 2003 HC rules at http://www.honda-challenge.com...s.pdf as it shows what is allowed and specifically deals with SCCA Prod cars.
This isn't my position, it is in the rules that I researched so I can run my SCCA F Prod car in H1. As long as the car is legal for it's SCCA Prod class and has a SCCA logbook, it is H1 legal.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I understand your position more clearly now. If I have my civic teched under SCCA GT3 National rules I will be allowed to run force induction reposition my cage to allow passage through the firewall and this will be H1 legal. Great Thanks.
You might want to recheck the about GT3 letting you run forced induction if you are talking about turbo or supercharging. They are specifically not allowed.
I don't know what your Civic is but GT doesn't even yet allow fuel injection (soon though probably) so you'd have to be carbed. If your car is a factory tub and not tube chassis, maybe it would fit better into a Prod class if it has been classed which allows either FI or carbs. Both will need full fire systems, fuel cells, etc. but Prod is a bit more oriented toward production derived cars and GT toward tube frame cars. You can run a tub in GT but it allows tube cars the chance to alter drivelines from FWD to RWD, etc.

You're either joking or seriously confused...
Yes, I'm seriously confused. What I'm confused about is that there is a set of rules and appearently if you get teched in another series you can still run in HC. Specfically, how can cars that have been teched in other series are allowed to by-pass the rules set forth by the ECHC.
If this is the case, of course I will take full advantage of this fact. What if my car is teched by the NHRA? That's technically another racing series. Where's the limit?
-Your's truly so very confused

Read the HC rules! That is what governs the cars in HC events. Nowhere is NHRA or SPU or an allowance for any car from any series mentioned so you can't arbitrarily take one car from a series and run it in HC. The HC rules have a specific section for SCCA Prod and Speed World Challenge cars because the goals, prep and general performance will fit well within the HC competition levels.
The rules writers wanted to include people from very similar groups so they too can have a place to play in the Honda Challenge. Those of us who have cars built to specs of the similar organizations appreciate that opportunity.
Simply if it is in the rules, it is allowed. If not then not. Read them and it will be clear.

What about FI in SPU though, on a 1.8L motor?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Since SPU is not SCCA nationally recognized, you'd have to check the rule allowances for SPU in your area if it exists. Southeast Division is the only group that runs SPU that I know of. Some areas might allow FI, others might not but all other aspects of the car must fit in as well (any cage minimums, fire systems, cells, etc.)

What lee said...
I wasn't trying to provoke a fight... I actually thought you were being sarcastic... The rules have provisions for classing of cars from a very limited number of classes from other series. Anything not handled by that list would be subject to individual assessment. This is laid out pretty clearly in the rulebook though.

JeffS and CRXLee, I first off hope that neither of you are taking this as a "fight" but rather as a debate. I haven't taken anything said personally and hopefully the two of you haven't as well. Thanks for the discussion.
