my clutch clicking?? wtf?
i noticed this few weeks ago.. when i ride the clutch say at a stop light or a little incline then clutch in, release half way, clutch in again.. so that i dont have to push the brake.. i noticed that each time i clutch in a hear a click on my pedal? i can actually feel it on my shoe! i know there is some sort of a spring by the pedal system and i have used wd-40 on it but it didnt seem to help? anyone know if this is normal? only happens in 1st and when the car is barely moving.. btw.. it shift normal.. no sign of damged clutch/trans or anything of that nature.. could something be wrong with my clutch pedal assembly or clutch master cylinder?
any help is greatly appreciated..

My ITR did that when I first had it. It used click when I pressed it down, right before it was all the way down, to drive in first after being neutral, but it no longer does it. Hope it wasn't something serious that I ignored.
Mine clicks too off and on. I do not feel anythig on the pedal though. It seems weird as I don't have to engage the clutch to allow this to happen. It really doen't feel like anything is wrong, just a little weird.

sorry to say but you need to remove the tranny........either the release bearing "sliding surface" or clutch release fork fulcrum have gotten "dry"...................

it not like i ride it at 5K with the clutch half way and holding the ebrake with my hand
! this has to be some defect or something because more people on this board are having the same issue.. you dont even have to ride the clutch.. you can simply press the clutch pedal down slowly and you will hear/feel the click.
I'll have the dealer look at tomorrow, afterall thats what the warrantee is for

i heard the clicking too, then my clutch wouldn't disengage at all about 2k miles later. i took it to the dealer, and they showed me that the springs/forks that disengage the pressure plate or whatever had broken. they fixed it with a little bit of arguement.
well i just dropped my car off at the dealer today. im waiting to hear the damage report tomorrow morning. hopefully acura will cover it. if not then what do you guys suggest? if the tranny's out already, should i just get a new flywheel/clutch combo to save on installation? is this a job i can do myself? don't have a helms manual. oh well, hope its not too bad. the dealer said they could tell that i was hard on my car because my tires are a bit bald. at 11K, on our type of tires, is it that uncommon to see the tires giving up already? oh well, hope everything works out.
Yall won't belive this but I noticed the same clicking when I come of the clucth at low speed in 1st gear (under 10 mph). I just passed it of as normal but you can slightly feel it in the pedal. I guess it's not specific to my car.
hey guys,
when i went to the dealer today, the tech said he could feel my clutch slipping already. i only have about 11,000 on my car. given that i DID learn stick on this car, how much damage could i have really done? he said i had about another 10,000 miles left on this clutch. i think that's total bs, and hes just trying to get me to buy a new clutch. what do you guys think, can i really take off like 50K miles from the clutch life because i learned on it?

This subject has come up in the past many times. Mine does it off and on. I hear the click, and feel it in my foot. Sometimes it does it on the press, and sometimes on the release. It sounds like it is in the pedal itself, not inside the tranny/clutch. Next time it happens I will take a closer look. I would be curious if your work at the dealer soves it...

he said he drove the car for and i quote "20 mins on the highway" and he couldn't reproduce the sound. once i got there it started making the noise and he even felt it first hand. i guess i'll see what happens tomorrow, i'll keep you guys updated. he said something about the teeth trying to find space and thus making the noise, and something about when it reaches the heat level, it compromises the integrity of the steel. oh well.
