I was hit this weekend and my battery light came on. They towed my car, and I went to get it and it was dead. I jumped it and it ran for about a min then it died. The alternator belt is still on, and I just bought the battery. So I took out my Acura battery and went out there and put it in. It got me home, which was about 15 miles away....What could this be? I took off the neg battery terminal and its still on.? HELP!!

alternator probably. have a 88 standard base model civic hatch, and the battery light came on, so we tested the alternator by taking oiff the battery cable trick, and it didnt cut off. But then we took a road trip and the battery died WHILE WE WERE DRIVING! Not to mention we were 179 milesd away from home.

I did the battery test...took off the positive side off while it was running...The SOB died right away.........Is this def the alternator? I just ordered one for 99.00 plus my core? Let meknow

Does anyone know how hard it is to put an alternator in? Its coming in tomorrow. I guess I have a project...

its easy 2or 3 bolts one being the one that holds the tension on the new belt after its on. just do everything the way you undid it!

 

new alternator is on, and battery light has left the building...Everything is back to normal..Thanks guys
