Default tire softener chemical

My dad has a friend that races stock cars at a small 1/4 mile oval track here in Colorado. I was over looking at his car and he was aplying a chemical that softens his race tires.

So that leads me to my question - Can I apply this same softener to my Kumho Ecsta 712's to make them softer. I autocross the car once or twice a month and use the 712's as my daily driver tires also. I would love to step up to the azenis but need to make some changes to the car (aka roll fenders) and save some money to buy them. Could using this chemical make my harder compound 712's alittle stickyier (sp?) to make them grip better at the autocrosses?

I know, this may be a dumb question, but I figure asking here would get me some real answers.

thanks
aaron

Before u do, check to make sure this is legal in ur region. On the other hand, I dont know how well this works with street compound tires though. Evenif it does, it will affect the tires molecular level, and would require constant reapplication to maintain whatever stickiness u gain. If you dont, the tire's grip is going to deteriorate.

The traction treatment can help restore some lost grip, but i dont think its going to give you 'extra' grip. Its more for r-tires that have been heat-cycled out.

Heat cycle, and then you could go old school and put bleach on them.

The traction treatment only lasts for a few events. If you daily drive on the tires as well you more then likely will lose the restored grip before the event.

Tire softener was only made to temporarily bring back the lost stickiness that a race tire loses after multiple heat cycles. I don't think it will do anything for a street tire that never was super sticky to begin with.

thanks for the replys. I figured it wouldn't do much for street tires but I figured I'd check.

Thanks

Where can I buy some?
A couple of guys use it at my SCCA region and they swear by it.

if you get GRM, there's always an ad in the back for this stuff... if not go to borders and write it down
