Default mini-me - how to make faster?

i been on HT for awhile posting a engine that i would have gotten like the LS/VTEC but i got screwed by my parents cuz of the moving and such, so pretty much i just wanna play a little and not get too serious cuz i may onyl keep this car for a year.

so i have a 98 DX coupe. i plan on putting VTEC head, vafc, 65 shot, bolt ons

are there anything that i could do to make it faster besides gutting my car cuz i may get rid my car next year.

u ever thought about going turbo? with the money you're gonna spend on the head, afc, nos and bolt-ons, u can get a nice little turbo setup.

the sound of turbo remind me of daily problems but i do want turbo though. what kind of problems will i expect from turbo? this set-up would be cheaper than turbo and the extra parts.

Not intending to steal the thread, but I'm just wondering if you turbo'd your non-vtec motor, or is it a mini-me? And if its non-vtec, what kind of power are you putting out?

nocaryet - Don't know what to say, I'm facing the same dilemma....considering saving for a b16a though(wishful thinking).

i have $3500 and still growing. i make about $175 a week if im working my 2 day schedule.

fuel upgrades, 65 shot, vafc, d16y8 head, zex cam, take out back seat and spare tire, bolt ons, 16' wheels, lower car, and tune it....i cant think of any more ways to make it faster with a decent price...

is it possibe to spray 70 shot on stock internals or maybe even 75?

$3500???? If your a diy guy, get a GSR swap from importautosalvage.com.

With that kind of money, I'd definitely do a swap, at least a b16. it's cheap and you'd probably still have half your money to add bolt-ons, and fix up any other "swap problems" people experience.

Well if you're just going to get rid off it. Just keep it clean so you can sell it. I'd keep it as stock as possible, more value to trade it in, if you can't find someone to sell it to.

You can run a 75 wet shot on stock internals with the right fuel upgrades and cam. I did for awhile, daily on 50 shot but then when my swap was ready, 75 all day everyday trying to blow the ****** up. It held up for a while and was strong too. I suggest the zex street cam, and just run with a 50 shot if you don't have ITFP @ 215lph or higher and the rest of your fuel sys boltons.

Honestly some good ideas on here, however, I do have a b16a2 swap for sale(legit and out of 00 si). Have pics tomorrow. Just an idea out there. However, the mini-me is a great little set-up. Nitrous will do it well as long as you don't get too crazy with it. Personally after running a jrsc I am not a fan of those. Turbos are a lot of fun but for me it is too tempting to start playing with the boost (I would get greedy and blow the motor up). As well with a swap though, keep the stock motor and then before you sell put it back in . Then turn around and sell motor again. This failsafes you from being stuck with the car on a motor with low compression say you do squeeze too much. It doesn't matter much what swap you go with as long as b series. It will be fun and you will get almost all of your money back out of it as long as it is kept in good shape. Goodluck.
