How much should a valve job cost?
I'm putting in the oxide coated valves, new springs, retainer, seals, etc so I will need a valve job. Any idea how much this should cost?
here's what i'm paying next week:
r&r the head $350
lap valves $200
valve adjustment $50 (many people charge about $100)
but i'm not getting springs, retainers or seals (i have jdm96 itr)
what brands did you go with for these parts?

I have R valve springs, Crower retainers, and Endyn black oxide valves. About the valves, they look alot like the "black knight oxide valves but I can't say they are with certainty. All seals are Honda. I thought valve adjustments had to be done with the head on the block.
100 suburb, 50 city, lol, j/k, ya bout 4-500 for a quality job by a honda specalist, whatever you do dont take it to somewhere that does domestics, they dont know how to do a GSR engine, at least not as well as a honda specialist.

yay! i basically did my first own valve adjustment today!!
remember
GSR
= intake between 6-7
= exhaust between 7-8 on the feeler guages!

Yeah, I've taken my stuff to a shop that mostly domestics and some import stuff. Well, I'm not impressed with the block work. I had them bore it 20 thou over. I have no prob with the bore and hone. They just left all the crap in the water jacket and there were pieces of aluminum from the overbore stuck to the deck. It took hours for me to clean it up. Damn I delivered the block clean. You'd think it'd be returned likewise. If someone could recommend a local San Antonio shop, I'd be happy to take it there.
On the point about domestic shops. I'm not knocking on them, it's just that not everyone working there may be a individual likely to think out of the box, or stop and think as opposed to just following a recipe. Also measuring tools, when I checked my deck, their smallest feeler gauge was at my maximum tolerance. But talk to the guy who's going to work on your stuff. He may have his own stuff he doesn't share with the shop. Sorry for the long post.
So if anyone could recommend a shop...
Thanks
