Default JDM B16a SI-RII is equivalent with which motor in US?

I bought a JDM B16a sirII motor recently without doing much homework!

Which motor does this motor share it's parts in US? Such as water pump, etc. Also I need to get a wire harness. Which one should I get?

And I DID do "search".

Wait wait..

What year car are you putting this into?

Also, I don't think the 99-00 SI will work. I used a 92-95 EX harness with my B16A SiR-II swap. I would suggest that, as I KNOW it works. You have to lengthen the IACV wires by about 2" though.

the motor is nothing like the 99-00 civic si. it's closest to the del sol vtec, but even still, its not the same.

hp output of a USDM GSR, torque of a B16.

technically a JDM b16a sir II has no equivalent in the US. it physically LOOKS like a del sol VTEC motor, obd1, single o2 sensor, IAT on the intake manifold etc... however, it has different internals. regardless which motor you swap the important thing will be which ECU/obd system you plan to run and what car it will be going in.

So, if I was to replace some internals, it would be difficult?

Also which Helms manual would closely resemble this motor?

this is retarded....please do not get over technical with this guy.

The engine that your are purchacing is exactly like the 94-97 del sol vtec. The only difference is the pistons have a slightly larger bump, to raise compression to make the acclaimed flywheel numbers, 170/113

note: YOu cannot use the 99-00 civic si harness unless you are putting this into a 99-00 civic.

Best bet would be to use your existing harness and add wires necessary for proper vtec operation.

Your helms manual for the del sol vtec will give you all maintenance and torque specs for that engine.

c'mon people was it really necessary to tell this guy that there is no USDM equivilant? Besides the .2 bump in compression.....?

get over technical with a newbiw to this sport and you will scare him away.. help not hurt please.

acclaimed flywheel numbers are 170hp/116tq for JDM and usdm gets 160hp/111tq i think these numbers are correct what about whp is there a difference like the flywheel stats or ts BS!...

Exactly, thank you. When you go to the ref with an SiR II motor, the equivalent is a Del Sol Vtec, or a 99Si. No reason to confuse the guy.

Don't worry. I'm not afraid. Actually, I'm not that new. I just spent all my times in Intregra and not really on Civics, especially JDM ones.

best harness will be a 94-95 del sol vtec, in your 92 civic. those are hard to come by, so a stock 93-95 civic ex coupe harness should do you fine with slight modification (thats what i used) if its not already wired for vtec.

also check on motor mounts shift linkage and axles.

Does anyone know why the JDM B16 is 170hp and the American one is only 160hp?

I beleive JDM pistons use P30 pistons, which gives higher compression ratio.

yea usually jdm motors have slightly highe compressions by different pistons than the usdm market motors. but hardly noticable u know. IMO id rather have a usdm motor that has papers that i can see has actual miles u know. id rather have piece of mind with lower miles than higher compression by a neglibale amount.

I would take a Jdm motor over USDM anyday man, honda is built to beat on it dude, beat on it everytime, anyday no problem what so ever. and you know why usdm have less hp, because japanese like to put shity stuff and outdated product in US martket.
