need help with eg sunroof
okay, my sunroof rails are rubbing on my roof and they are scratching the **** out of it.
i took the glass out by unbolting the three bolts on either side. with the glass off the rails work perfect. They go up, then out perfectly fine.
i tried to adjust the height of the sunroof by holding it up while i screwed it back in, and i flipped around the washers to adjust it as said in the haynes manual. but when i put it all back together, it is still rubbining.
to make the sunroof come out i have to push it up while it is going out. then its struggles to get it back in, because it rubs hardcore.
basicly, the rails cannot support the weight of the glass, they are being weighed down some how. what would cause this? i need to fix this, getting the car painted soon, and its gonna be busted if the cars paint job will be scratched when i open the sunroof...
thx guys

same thing happened to my driver side.
There is a little plastic bracket on mine that broke...which cause the driver side to not lift as high and it left me 2 nice 4 inch long scrapes. I tried adjusting mine as well, which helped, but I need to put the new brackets in.
I haven't figured how to pull the rails off...and haven't really had time. But that might be your problem.

yea?
hrmm,. i read oer the haynes.. im thinking it might be the lifter part or something.
its weird because without weight, it operates perfectly fine. then when the glass is added it sinks.
but i even tried to put a decent amount of force on the brackets when there was no glass on it and they were taking quite a bit without even moving down..

Yeah I got the same problem on my EG. It scratched the hell outta my roof in two rusted lines. Then I got it painted but I completely forgot it rubs so now I have to make sure I push up on it so it wont scratch the paint. When it gets to this I'm pretty sure you need a new sunroof assembly, that's what I'm going to get. It's probably best you don't mess around with junk yark crap because the crashed civics could have the same problem that we do. I know it's pricey, but me thinks a trip to your local honda dealer will fix it.

****...the exact same thing is happening to me! Neither side can seem to support the weight of the glass. And when I just use the tilt feature, it doesn't actually tilt all the way up. Instead it tilts slighty and moves back about a half inch (you can see the gap). Although with the glass removed, everything seems to work fine.
im having troubles with mine right now, car came w/o a switch, put one in, went back like a pos then got stuck, seems like only one side is comin back, then i pushed it back and now its stuck in the tilt position
anyone know how i can fix it?

just jiggly it around
itll go in eventually.. you might have to push it up from inside the car, and work with the seal and stuff
its sad to see how many people have problems with their sunroofs..
i really dont want to have to replace the entire thing

is the rail dry?if the rail is dry it causes the sunroof the bobble up and down while sliding back. Honda has a lube for the sunroof rail. If you need the whole sunroof and assembly, I have one off our race car.
