Anybody road/drag race thier Accord?
Or is racing dead? I don't hear too much from anyone who either road or drag races their Accord. It seems like the "family car" is just that... A family car once again. What happened? I have been posting here for over a year and it seems like there used to be a few more "enthusiast" who used to post, but they no longer come around. I still race my Accord at the drag strip and the civic owners are still amazed from time to time. I am wondering if their are any more of "us" left here at HT?
I am road racing a 1994 4 door LX
I am getting race liscensed in 1 1/2 weeks in Summit Point VA, then racing the Accord for the first time 2 weeks later at the same track
this race comes with possible TV and magazine exsposure, my car has a lot of sponsor space left, any takers?
but seriously once the car is finished we will put up some pics
you speak of being amazed, teh last time the car was on track it was slightly raining, the owners of the Z06 Vettes and M3's didn't know what hit them, they came by in the paddock wondering what exactly was done to the car to make it so damn fast, the best part is that it is just a stock LX F22 with 220,000 miles

i havent ran the car that much this year though, due to it not being able to pass tech at the moment and just being busy.

I'll be hitting Road Atlanta this summer with instructors.
There's competition-minded folks around Scott, they're just over on AD.

hey scott, how you been?
Some people race their cords, but you are right, most people are just trying to save money or trying to make their car look good, i would race if i could, but down here, that just simply doesn't exist.
BTW did you dyno your car?

I'm autocrossing my 1992 LX (DX USA) coupe mantran. I'm not really going out to win, but to get experience for future cars. The Accord is just so heavy that it understeers horribly. I'm squealing badly where other cars in my class are going around far faster without any of that crap.
To give you an idea, I had my first time out 2 weeks ago, and I ran a low 50 second time, while the best time in my class (4 banger NA FWD/AWD stock) was a low 40. It doesn't help that I'm running on streets, and I'm stock stock (no suspension mods or ANYTHING), but still, 10 seconds is a lot to make up.
I'll see how much better I do my 2nd time out, but I'm not counting on winning anything. I'm just going to practice left foot braking and messing with tire pressure

I don't mean using left foot braking for launching or inducing oversteer or anything like that. Just as a means to smooth the transition from braking to acceleration. I find that I'm switching from the acceleration to the brake and back so often that I'm probably losing significant time.
The last course I was on was so tight that I got into 2nd for all of like... once.

I road race my accord.
Understeer sucks ***, what do you guys do to help this? I already have the ST rear sway, maybe I just need to slow the hell down in the more technical sections........
<-locked up in a braking zone and flew off the track at 70-80mph. Car is OK...sort of.

GC coilovers w/ custom spring rate Eibach springs, any off the shelf spring is going to be to soft to 'race' on.
My car has been down, and still isn't running properly, thats why I haven't been racing, i've missed all my local autoxs, drag races, and track weekends so far this year

I have been autocrossing every month for the past couple years, and hopefully will have my w2w competition license in hand the 1st of august. Drag racing, well I cant say I really do that anymore, but would like to get to the strip again to see how much faster -#300 makes me.
Morgan and I will both be at Summit Point next weekend terrorizing everyone else on track. If anyone is interested in coming by I could probably use some help bleeding my brakes.

) more often than understeer. this is combined with off the shelf single adjustable koni sport shocks.
