Okay, here is the deal in VA.
Option 1:
-Go to DMV, pick up Motorcycle riding book and read it a couple times.
-Go back to DMV and take 25 question test..you can miss up to 5...easy.
-Go back to DMV 6 months later with your bike and you do a driving test in the parking lot with cones.
Option 2: This is what I did and what I would suggest.
-Contact you local comm. coll. and see if they offer an MSF course....if they do, take it....mine was $90 and it was a weekend course.
-Once completed, go to DMV and take 25 question test....the MSF class teaches you a lot that I didn't even need to read the book.
-Once you pass, you don't need to take a riding test at the DMV, you just get your license.
-Buy a bike, tell your insurance you took the MSF class and what I did was join the AMA(American Motorcycle Assoc.) and got even more of a discount.
I'm 25 with 6 points on my license. It costs me $460 a year to insure my 00 Honda CBR600 F4.
Good luck!
