there was water, maybe coolant in the right corner on the timing cover on the front of the block. it was also under and on the header flange. the fluid was clear and did not smell. only noitced it after driving for 45 minutes. any ideas.

 

one way to check is your oil, if u have a bad head gasket, coolant would leak into your oil.

no milk, and no oil in the coolant.

 

I think you are just being to cautious with that car. You need to beat it more and maybe it will start behaving. Was the water down there green or was it just water? Maybe the water pump has a leak. Either way if it needs a head gasket you know I'll help you put it in, but if the cams have to come out then maybe they shouldn't be the ones to go back in.

if its the water pump leaking you better replace it, when it leaks its the beginning signs of intended failure soon.
