sorry i had to post this here mr. moderator, but it's lonely in the S2K forum.
i think 1 or 3 ITR people here have bought an S2K. to you fine fellows i ask the following: what options did you get? any problems with the car yet? did you lease or finance? what are your lease/finance payments (with downpayment and term please).

Sammy Jankis is a character in an awesome movie called Memento. "Remember Sammy Jankis" is a mantra that the main character has in order to help himself remember stuff. He has a short-term memory problem which is the focus of the whole movie.
Expect a noisey tranny, as they seemed to fix the grinding of gears for '01 models. The '00 models needed new 1st and 2nd gear syncros. Also, on some '00 models the clutch was replaced due to excess noise. The major complaint is tranny noise. Other than a few motors that went sour due to a lack of oil, all is fine. It's stated to check oil level at every fuel fill-up. There were about 5 or so, maybe more, where the motors were replaced from oil loss failure. I got no options w/ mine and was lucky to get one under MSRP. It took me about 3 weeks of calling around and speaking to fleet managers, don't waste your time speaking to sales or floor managers, go to the top!
Speedy, I have an S2000 and love it. No problems so far with 3500mi. Well, there is a small leak that developed at the top of driver's-side A-pillar, but that's an easy fix for the dealer.
The only option I got was the alarm (yeah, I know aftermarket is better, but dealer-installed = factory warranty). I don't believe there are any significant options other than glamour bits like spoilers and stuff that, in my opinion, ruin the tight look of the S2000.
As for financing, I don't know what the going rate on S2000 is these days. They were hard to find at MSRP ($32,740) a couple months ago, but might be more plentiful now.
My biggest complaint is that the S2000 doesn't have any cargo capacity. I gotta make the choice of taking the S2000 and leaving the bicycle at home, or load up the wife's Integra but leave the S2000 at home... always a tough call...

This is off topic for this post, but I was thinking the other day (when I was watching my Best motoring Type R video) How cool would it be if Honda produced an S2000 type R? They did an NSX then an Integra then a Civic, maybe an S2000 next? Of course we would probably have a hard time getting one in the US. Sorry just daydreaming..

mr. cole: i am currently debating between that m coupe (i'd get the red one just to annoy you) and an s2k. intially, i ruled out the s2k but i dunno...there aren't many cars with the same bang-per-buck ratio. plus, i found out several dealers have them in stock locally.
to all others: tanx for all the info. speedy is soon to be R-less and will need a replacement just to cope.
