Default are OS .25 CTR pistons necessary in B18C?

well the motor is suppose to have ~45k miles on it since its JDM yo!...so wouldnt the walls be okay given if it had a easy life...but anyways do i need the OS pistons or can i just run the standard 81mm bore?..

...i would like to avoid the machine shop if i could...cause its more work and $$$

...kinda exploring my all motor options right now

They are not required.

But think of it this way. You HAVE to hone the block if you are installing new pistons/rings. You don't want to hone it yourself and run the risk of putting an oval in your cylinders. So since you need to take the block to the machine shop anyways, why not go overbore? More displacement.

You do not want to hone the block yourself.

Not necessary at all, even honing is not really always necessary.

but you are going to be guaranteed 100% possible power if you bore over 0.25mm and hone the walls at a shop. Really, do it you wont be disappointed. It is not a big expense to have a shop bore and hone either, so go for it.

You should hone, and while you are there just bore it out a little. Worth it, IMO (speaking from experience).

okay thanks for the input guys...i have been on dilema of wich direction to go with my crx...was thinking jrsc or n/a...i figure if i go n/a i definitly wont run into any fitment issues

...so i heard that raising the compression wont affect emmissions much...is this true?...i know hi lift cams will though...just wondering cause i still want to pass CA smog...was just planing on swaping cams out when the time came
