The new Hoosier. Any idea when?
Just wondering if anyone had the inside scoop. I looked here, but that's pretty vague.
I'm trying to budget the rest of my year, and the Kumhos I bought earlier this year probably won't last through my next race weekend. Besides, they also suck a lot.

Last I had heard was July, but that was several months ago when I heard that.
I will call my folks at Appalachian and see what they know.

I had an answer to this a while back... unfortunately, it has long since departed. You will probably have better luck giving "Hoosier Tom" Reichel a call, Bruce Foss @ the company is usually pretty busy and can be hard to get a hold of. You can find Tom's number on my car.

But, Karl ins't going to Topeka. He's going road racing. There were guys at the 2002 Runoffs running the new compound tires, and they were 100% legal.
Someone just sold a lightly used set of 205/50-15 R3S04 tires on SCCAforums.

They'd apparently had some issues getting the new compound released from the mold and were working to solve that issue... at least, that's what I heard about the 4-series autocross tire.
Last I heard there were some production issues with the 04 so distribution has been delayed.
I do know of 2 pro drivers that have tested the tire and both said it was very, very good. One even said that he had to adjust his style because the tire had "too much grip."
I don't know of anyone that has done any useful wear testing.
Scott, who can't wait to try out "too much grip."

Well now I've got four half-life Kumho Ecstas, Toyos don't fit the car right, and Hoosiers are not only expensive, but they'll be obsolete before I burn through their 800 dollar life.
Dammit, the Kumho Experiment really was a bad idea.
--Rice, who might "rent" some tires and wheels...

Karl.....I too change to Hoosiers and like them better than the Kumhos.....but with that said, what the hell did Chris B. do to his Kumhos?....he had no problem running with me and passing me too.........thats what a better car setup will do for your tires and handling..........you will see a change with your new setup and the Kumhos.......be patient, and don't sweat.....there is good racing on its way.....
Just give in Rice. There is a good chance we will be on Toyos next year anyway, so either, get some 205/50s from one of these places or get your car off the bump stops and run 225/50s. Sheeesh.
