how much is your insurance?
Yeah, what Steve said.
However, I pay $536/year. Full coverage. USAA.

Keep in mind, liability only pays to fix property/cars of someone elses that you damage. It doesn't pay to fix your bike if it's your fault.
The most expensive coverages are Collision, which pays for your bike if you wreck it and it's your fault. Comprehensive, which will pay for your bike if it's stolen, etc... and Uninsured Motorist, self explanatory.
Banks require full coverage if you get a motorcycle loan (comp, collision, uninsured motorist).

Hmm.... I've never heard anyone refer to their driving record points in Texas. You hear it a lot on the West Coast.
Ok, so basically if I get a bike with a loan I'm going to be dropping a lot on insurance since I'm 19

I have a buddy that works at the DMV.
illPhill: Your best bet would be to save up and buy a bike outright without loans or anything, that way you don't need full coverage on it and you won't have to sell your soul to pay insurance.

Yeah thats looking more and more and like it. Only reason I was really looking to get a loan was for something relatively cheap ($4-5k or so) that could easily be paid off in a year or so, knock out the loan early (help my credit for future car purchase), and so I could still have money to play the Civic of course
Yeah, I took out a $7K loan 2 years ago for my b8c1, i/h/e, wheels, and gave my sis $2K, I just finished paying if off in Jan.03 4 months early so that helped my credit a lot. I won't have a problem getting a loan from my bank now.
Yep, thats why I'm seriously thinking about getting a loan on the bike. I figure if I put a good down payment, even if I have to pay full insurance for a year it would still be worth it credit wise. No telling, I'm sure if I give it a month or two I'll change my mind.
