starter bike?
i have no riding experience......cept on my 12 speed. hehe. i did try on my friend's souped up ninja.....and dayam that machine was fast!....and i only did 1st gear! i have heard that a ninja 500 is nice for a beginner bike,the also tell me i will regret it after i buy it. i stand about 6 ft tall. would i look too big for a 500?

There's a billion and one posts for this if you go back and read.. but,
Yes, the EX500 is a great starter bike. Your feelings on it are up to you. But the size won't be an issue. You'll look a little goofy on an EX250, but the 500's fine.
My standing (as I've pointed out previously), is that the smaller the bike, the faster you reach the limits of the bike, and the faster, better, and safer you learn to handle the bike at or beyond it's limits, and if you mess up, the consequences are a lot less drastic.
If all you feel like doing is bombing on-ramps, going fast in a straight line, and impressing chicks (who honestly don't care), than go buy whatever you want. If you want to learn to ride WELL, then buy something small and wring the snot out of it.
A friend of mine taught me this when he took his RS125 to the track and finished 2nd amidst a pack of 20 600s.
