Technicality. People call it a B16A1 because it is the first gen B16A, even though the JDM motors have no numbers following the letter (ie B18C out of a Type R in Japan is still B18C).
Anyways, VTEC is loud as fawk on my car... but I have stock exhaust.

alright thanks guys. Also when I say B16A1 I am reffering to a B16A first gen. If you look around this site and many others you will hear them refered to as a B16A1. Anyways I am thinking about running a CTR intake cam and a ITR exhaust cam do you guy think that would that make much of a difference?

Also I am running a crush bent 2.25 exhaust witha catco cat and ractive muffler but am thinking about getting a GReddy? Any suggestions on a good exhaust for a 91 CRX w/b16

I have I/H/E and the ITR valvetrain including cams and when I hit 5200 rpms it's like someone put a totally different motor in my car. It's the difference of petting a cat and making it purr to squeezing a cat and making it yowl.

there is a b16a1 it is found in europe.
VTEC engagement noise depends on the exhaust you have, that should be pretty obvious. I have a custom built exhaust so my car is extremely loud when the VTEC engages. so loud that crusing th3e highway in 5th when the VTEC is engaged is almost unbearable. with a custom exhaust your motor will probably be louder than your buddy's SI (given his exhaust is stock).

for me, **** i still don't really know, my v-tec still not working, after about 5,000 rpm the check engine lights comes on and it throws the code for v-tec. help please..

What dose tham mean Nitrous Dream? Because I want to know how vtec sounds I am rice? Anyways Does anyone know how much a shop would charge to install the CTR intake and ITR exhaust cam? Thanks to everyone who actually provided good information

I think having an air intake on your car makes quite a difference in the noise of VTEC engagment.. I know when I didn't have an ehxaust on my car, VTEC engagment was fawkin' AWESOME..

not sure, do most everything myself. Just pick up the phone and call a couple of shops near by. That simple. Do you just think that's it's cool to have a powerband?
