Is Milano Red a hard color to match?
The best way to match the color is to take it to someone who has this little device that they sit on a falt part of your car. It takes a picture and exactyly mathces the hue on your car. You cant expect to just buy some milano red paint and expect it to match. Take into accont that every car is gonna be a bit different due to the condition of the paint etc.
Oh and heres a pic of my car. The moldings, handles, side skirts, ctr grill and front bumper have been repainted to match the paint that is original 97 milano red. It was matched using the method i was talking about.

My friend had a 96 hatch..and he had the Red repainted and **** it looked worse then when it was black..cause of the paint lookin all fresh and new...
My front and rear bumpers were color painted with the original code. My buddy painted them and they came out great! They were a little richer at first, but once I laid some wax down, they evened out even more. We're going to polish out the whole car and it will look new again.
The only thing about using the above mentioned method, is that when the old paint is polished out looking like new, the new paint will only look as good as the old paint was when it was faded.

We still have to polish it, this was just the tail gate I waxed very quicklu

I painted my sideskirts...matched up perfectly. My fenders are off of a completely different car with the original MR paint and it matches perfectly. Basically, it CAN be a difficult color to match but if your paint is in original condition it shouldn't be to difficult.

milano red is tri-coat, pain to match.......
better off using the base-clear version of it, i know PPG offers it.
whenever you paint something regardless of the color, you need to blend it into adjacent panels, never will a color match up just by mixing it. THere are so many factors that can alter a color, i dont care if you use the same can of paint that was origanlly spayed on your car, its still wont match...
If you blend it right it will match and you will never tell it was repainted

I've seen those machines that jDmDxTuRd is talking about at the auction all the time, they are pretty amazing, you put it on the car, and the machine has a digital display that tells you the hue, that's the best way. At the auction, thats how you tell if the car has been repainted, or recked, by the difference in the hue.
PPG has digital cameras(machines) that you can use to detect actual pigments of the color on a car. You use it in about 5 spots within the area you need to paint and then it gives you codes with toners to match the car. but still there is too many variances for it to match perfectly.

Can you elaborate on that?
Bringing this back from the dead...need to get a bumper/lip painted, and can get it done for $150, but it isnt going to be matched or blended, just spraying n praying. Paint is in pretty good shape, definitely not dull, but probably not as blood red as new. But pretty damn close if not, especially after I wax.
Seems like some of you guys just got it sprayed and it worked out alright?
