ITR Cams Vs Skunk2 Vs Toda Spec A
I am contiplating on replacing my ITR cams in my B18C1 with either the Skunk2 or Toda Spec A's. Can you guys give me some insight on how much power, if any, does these cams make over the ITR's. Is there any idle lope, would i need new retainers, i already have portflow inner springs.....Thanks

In order of weakest to most powerful of the three it goes
ITR Cams
Skunk (not much more than the ITR's)
Toda Spec A
I would go with the A's Myself

I have heard of someone running in the 12's with the skunk2 cams but I haven't heard of anyone running in the 12's with the Spec A's. So in my opinion I would have to say the Skunk cams are better. If I am wrong please let me know because I am very interested in upgrading cams also....
there's a Type-R around here using the Skunk2 cams who runs a 12.5-7. The car has a lot of weight reduction and other goodies, but I wonder why they didn't choose some beefier cams ...maybe they would have hit low 12's?

This guy has ALOT into his car and alot of $$$
My skunk cams made 15hp more over my type R cams, in the midrange I gained close to 20. If you are strictly looking at lift specs and think bigger is better you are wrong.
These cams work.
Call Skunk and ask questions if you have.
Obviously Skunk must believe in their product if they chose to use their cams in that R that runs mid 12's. I believe that car is making in the neighborhood of 207 to the wheels with minor mods, light headwork, cams, etx and tuning. Not bad if you ask me.
Just fyi he is lightened quite a bit. I believe his goal is to break 11's.

i was waiting for you fast94gsr. took you awhile though. soon as someone say the "s" word you come a runnin. skunk2's are not bad cams, but i would look at other cams such as the toda's or spoon's. just my 2 cents though.
I come a runnin, umm yea ok...Say the "T" (Toda) word and everybody comes a running! touche pussycat! LOl its all good. Seems like I am the only one on this board running the Skunks and so I always drop my 2 cents in. Well when it comes to Skunk I like to clarify things. Alot of misconception and rumors get spread on this board about the skunks. People keep spreading word that they are the same as itr cams which they are not. I have seen many graphs where they have made the same power as the Toda Cams, and they are like couple hundred cheaper and don't require springs retainers, yaya...Hey its your money spend it the way you want..
If you want an all out cam go with JUN those are the cams..However they require springs, and more compression but they make a lot of power and pull way up to 9k and beyond.

I know that to get the most out of the Spec B's you would have to upgrade your valvetrain and up your compression. Now would increasing your compression with the Skunk2's also give you much more power than if you just ran stock Itr's and raised the compression....

Someone explain this to me please how can the skunk cams be aggressive when they work fine with stock valve springs? Even when Honda came out with the Type-R, they used different springs compared to the B16A and GS-R.
Untuned, I dropped in a set of Toda Spec A's in my R and made an instant 14hp at the wheels. Just think when I do get everything tuned in...
xjohnx: who knows? I know. if the SHO integra forum was up I could link you to our tech archive on cam specs but since it is not:
here are the discussed cams' specs on the VTEC lobe for comparison...as you can plainly see the Skunk2 and Spec A's are not copies. what's that cliche? God is in the details?
