Default air intake for GSR

i see a lot of people in here install a AEM CAI. I'm new to this and the first mod I'm doing to my car is an air intake... what is your guys opinion on the different brands and stuff. Some of them are as low as $50 while the AEM is about $170.

Another thing is hydrolocking, any1 used the bypass valve.. does it prevent it as stated...??

btw. sorry about posting gsr stuff in type-r forum, but u guys seem more serious about performance than ricing out cars.

you can go with a good short-ram..Comptech, AEM etc...theyre pretty good. Or you can go with a Cold Air Intake setup...brands like AEM, Injen(Onepiece), and Iceman are all good..

From a review in one of the magazines, the AEM bypass valve seems to work. However, I didn't get one neither for my Prelude nor my Integra 'cuz down here in So. Calif., there's hardly any rain except winter.

just about all short rams are the same, and the cold air, injen aem and the ice box, are proven hp gains....

How much horsepower gain can I expect? hear you also get better fuel mileage... and also at higher rpm's you get a slight different sound!!

What are icebox?

btw, what I was asking for is there any significant from a no known brand CAI or others like DC sport, AEM etc... I mean the cost vastly different?

I am not exactly sure what the hp gain is, but it is noticeable. If you decide to get the CAI, you will notice what they call the AEM CAI noise syndrome. A good way to learn about the Icebox and bypass valve is by doing a thread search. There are great threads that revolve around these topics in the Integra forum.

sport compact car dyno tested the AEM CAI and showed a 8 PEAK hp gain over stock on a 96 GSR....great bang for the buck...definitely get the AEM CAI...there is no substitute

Hey, welcome to the club first of all! You made a great decision. Secondly, I am selling my AEM Intake with Bypass Valve. Just send me an e-mail and I'll get right back to you.

Thanks
