Why does the b18c make 10 more hp then the b18c1.

Im guessing your talking about the jdm and usdm gsr motors.I think the JDM motor has a higher compression.

Yea, you are right about the compression.

The jdm b18c has a 10.6 cr

and the US gsr b18c1 has 10:1 compression

What do they have differant pistons or rods or heads?

I would guess, a slightly different piston design, maybe with more of a dome would be the reason for the higher cr. But the .5 higher cr will not give you 10 more horsepower. The jdm cars have dont have the strict emissions that we have here. So I'm sure some of the 10 hp is also exhaust and ECM programming.

Why are you asking all of this?

and the claim is that the jdm ones don't make anymore power than the usdm ones anyway. Thay say the jdm engines do better with the usdm ecu even. All of which i'm currently researching for my swap. Anyone have some experience here?

The JDM has higher compression because of the pistons.

Connecting Rods have nothing to do with compression.

The B18 has one cylinder head.

have a JDM B18C in my CRX...my dyno looks like all the other stock B18C1 dynos out there...i think most of the power is really gained somewhere other than the higher CR...hmmm but my motor was originally a AUTO which = less aggressive cams supposedly
