how do you size slicks?
(1) do you want autocross tires, or slicks?
(2) assuming you actually meant slicks, and not DOT approved race tires, you do know that puts you WAY out of Stock [and even Street Prepared] class, right?
My suggestion... actually go to an autocross and figure out what you really want before spending any money. Second suggestion, if you are still reading, run at least 1 full season of autocrosses on street tires before going to race tires. You will be such a better driver for it.

eh... If your going to assume that I'm an "auto-x n00b!" than I'm going to assume that you are "pretty stupid"
Don't you know that an engine swap bumps you straight to SM and don't you already know how many people on this board have engine swaps? sheesh...think man, think!
Arguments asside, what's the stickiest auto-x tire I can put on 94-95 gsr wheels?

You are more than welcome to believe anything you would like about my intelligence level. I was simply trying to clarify your question as you provided NO information about your car, what class you run in, etc. That usually indicated a "noob", as you put it. Quite honestly, I thought RJ would have this locked by now. *shrug*

I've reread your post several times... nowhere in it, including your signature did you remotely indicate what class you run in, or the fact that you have an engine swap.
Hope you get an answer to your question.

Let us also consider that an "experienced" autocross would already know that a true slick is NOT legal in street modified (the class he evidently runs in, or thinks he would be running in).
As for the numbering system of a race slick, well, it's kind of obvious.
The first number is the overall diameter of the tire, the 2nd number is the tread width, the 3rd number is the wheel diameter.
Now, someone that wasn't a "noob" would know that Hoosier sells these tires, and if they go to the super secret hidden Hoosier Tire web site they could find all the specs they need:
http://www.hoosiertire.com/rrtire.htm

wrong, try again. SM doesnt allow slicks either.
might want to do your homework before you try to flame someone. It just makes you look like an even bigger dumbass.
Stickiest SM legal tires are going to be Hoosier autoX DOT R-tires. But if you really werent an "auto-x n00b" you would already know that.

We assume you're a noob because you ask questions in noob format. You don't tell us what kind of car, what class you want to run in, what size 94-95 GSR wheels are, etc. Just a question no one can answer, unless they're a mind reader. BTW, most people on the RR/AX forum don't run motor swaps, because they aren't legal in most competition.
You might also get better response if you didn't smart off to one of the most respected members of this forum. If you follow this forum much you'll see that manners are important here. Just a word to the wise.
As to slick sizing. 20.0X6.0-13 is a nominal 20" tire diameter, 6" tread width, and 13" wheel. Actual measurements may vary. see http://www.hoosiertire.com/rrtire.htm for examples

Please correct me if I'm mistaken...
SM rules: http://moutons.org/sccasolo/Ru....html
"18.1.B. All Street Prepared modifications are allowed."
Street Prepared tire rules: http://moutons.org/sccasolo/Rules/sp.html#s143
"14.3 Tires: Tires must meet the eligibility requirements for Stock Category"
Stock tire rules: http://moutons.org/sccasolo/Rules/stock.html#s133
"13.3.C. The tire model must have Department of Transportation approval. "
Which means NO SLICKS. It means any of these instead:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/types/comp.htm
Of which, the stickiest is probably this one:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/...A3S03
Which is sized in this way:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/...e.htm
Unlike true slicks, which are sized in this way:
27.0x11.0-18 = Where 27.0" is the overall diameter, 11.0" is the tread width, and 18" is the wheel diameter
Trying to help,
Jon

Then the answer is an hearty "Yes"... you CAN definitely put slicks on a 5 spoke GSR wheel.

Sorry for the response delay...I know you (r2x) were PATIENTLY awaiting my reply. I've decided to go with the great and wonderful

205/50R15 is the size I'm picking as well.
No hard feelings?
edit: They are BFGoodrich g-Force T/A Drag Radial's...When I posted, I realized that the label on the tire wasn't as legible as I first though.

No hard feelings. I usually don't get worked up by people I don't know calling me names on the internet. It's not worth the effort. *shrug*
Now I'm really curious though... I've never seen anyone auto-x drag radials (and I've been around this since 96)... What factored into the decision to go with that particular tire for an autocrossing application?

you really need to attend some more autocrosses and talk to the faster drivers in your region - you'll find they are usually very helpful with advice.

The only DOT "R compound" tires competitive autocross drivers use are Hoosier A3SO3 and Kumho Victoracers or Ecsta V700. Look at the results from the national SCCA competition for proof.
Sorry RJ, I guess I kinda ruined your advice

for me! I didn't realize that drag's had a weaker sidewall than the other, better tires on the market.
