Default clutch engagment problems

the clutch engagment point seems to be changing. normally the clutch engages about 1 inch from the ground. but yesterday while i was driving, it started engaging right at the end of the stroke (4 inches higher). the pedal also feels a lot harder when pressing it. by the time i got home, it started engaging 1/2 inch from the bottom (now way too low). this morning it's back to engaging at the end of the stroke (4 inches higher), way too high to drive properley.
checked all the fluids and they're all fine. checked all the clutch engagement screws, they're all perfectly fine, not lose or anything.
the car is a totatly stock 2000 itr. 36k miles (58,000 KM)
any idea what's going on here? clutch gone?
thanks,
itr707

You may have had a spring break out from the clutch disc. Sometimes it will get stuck and cause problems, other times it will be out of the way and the clutch will operate normally. That is one likely possibility.

The engagement point for my stock clutch was way near the top, not one inch from the bottom. Weird.

If it has changed then you have a problem, I suggest dropping the tranny and taking a look, If it were to fail you would or could be stuck somewhere.

Could definitely be a bad clutch spring. How bad do you beat on the car?

my problem is the clucth master cylinder, that might be yours too, check the piston shaft under the dash that connects to the clutch pedal. word is that if it has greese on it or there is brake fluid leaking it is bad and needs replacing, it wont hold the pressure. just becuase your master cylinder tank is full of fluid does not mean the mc is still good. if the mc is bad change the slave cylinder on the tranny too.

changing the mc and slave did fix my clutch problems, prices were 113$ and 72$ respectively from honda, not remaned they are actually new units. instal was easy and took less than an hour. beats dropping the tranny and replacing the clutch.
