Default B18B swaps. Who's got em'? Impressions...

Hey all. My search for a car has finally started to come to an end . I have found a 92 Si Hatch. It has a B18b motor and a Type-R tranny and basic bolt-ons. Im pretty psyched on the whole setup and was wondering what people with similair setups are running. I know this sounds like a noob question but i havent really heard of people with the non-vtec motor swap and their driving impressions.
Thanks a ton. Honda-Tech is the shiat.

Um, Thats because they are slow. It makes for a good daily driver. The only time I ran it at the track I ran a 15.2 at 90.68 mph.

If its got a ITR tranny and some bolt on it should be really quick. It should run mid to low 14 second quarters if you can drive. Should be pretty easy to get it into the 13's with cams, headwork, intake manifold and nice header. Its all about the torque baby. **** a motor that i have to rev to 9k to make power, when i can have non vtec cams that have pretty much the same lift as a vtec cam.

If you know how to drive, then sure its easy. My car runs 9.3 to 9.4 1\8th mile times and im going to run the 1\4 on tuesday night. Im gonna take some pics and make a thread when i get home for all the NON-VTEC haters. Look for it mid next week. I have a b16 tranny and a stock b18b with bolt ons. car weighs about 2180 without me in it. Non vtec for me.

lol, i ran a 14.74 in a stock LS with looooong ratio'ed LS tranny and I/H/E.....bald tires too!

LS's are really good platforms, just decide for yourself what youwant to do with it....i'm just keeping mine simple and subtle, no 12-second turbo'd MONEY PITS for me

I love my b18b! It's a step up from my previous 1.5l d15b7 automatic!
I think my best purchase so far is the ACT HDSS clutch for it. Love it!

http://www.nippon-motors.com - I also got a 1998 B18B in my garage. But its pretty much sold. $300 and Si seats.

Also, whats the big deal with B18's?? ONLY 14's IF YOU CAN DRIVE.

I throw a SKUNK2 cam in my SOHC, header back SKUNK2 exhausts and some additional bolt ons and I'm doing 14's all day long. My boy has a 95 Integra running NOS and additional bolt ons and hes only in the 14 range. Pfft. Waste of money, stick with what you got if you dont have the cash to finish the project.

Thanks for the replies everyone. JDMdxTurd your car is awesome. I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to go FI or NA with the motor. I've had a friend with Crower 404's in his b18 and also later on switch out and go turbo. I think I'm leaning towards the latter.

I am happy with my b18b..my info is in the sig at the bottom...I of course would have been much much more happy with a b18c ...but the b18b is a huge upgrade over the old d16y8. I have more lowend torque..and more power up top compared to the d16y8....i improved all over the powerband compared to the d16y8... Its good for a daily driver and also a much better platform for power to work off of now. I especially enjoyed not having to rev up to 5-6k to keep up with highway traffic while merging

i hope its not the black si hatch w/ rotas and a world sport. if so then that thing was beat. that thing was spraying so hard on stock internals i saw it walk a camaro ss by 3-4 cars. good thing b18b's are cheap. i have one in a hatch too, im planning on going turbo. its much slower then the gsr that use to be in there. oh if its the hatch im thinking of, then i raced him with my old set up.

15.2 @ 90.68 mph was my best on my first run to the strip ever. I need to run it again.

Wow if your serious about this car I'm really pissed off now . There is no way I'm going to get that hatch if it was spraying. especially hard enough to beat a SS. Maybe I can convince him to get me a new motor before I buy it. One of the reasons I wanted it was because most of the "bitch" work was already done to it. Thanks for the heads up.
