Just recieved my Hawk Pads and Motul Brake Fluid!
I'm installing the pads tonight. I have the Helms manual and the installation seems pretty straight forward. Does anyone know the proper way to "Break-In" the pads though? Thanx
This would be the info you are looking for: http://www.hawkperformance.com/faq.cfm
You'll probably get a billion opinions here.....what you just need to do is "bed" the pads into your rotors. Are the rotors new? Are they being machined? Or are you just slapping them on? BTW pad life is usually extended if you machine your rotors but it isn't absolutely necessary.
To bed your pads you need to heat them up and get them to operating temperature first. Driving constant speed (e.g. highway) you can warm them up by light left foot braking for 10 second periods - do this a few times. Then what you want to do is some hard stops from highway speed down to about 10 mph (but not stopped). Then let the pads cool fully.
When installing - use generous amounts of anti-seize compound.

Spoke too soon ... the rotors are stock with roughly 2K miles. I had thought about using some fine sandpaper 400 grit to prep them, but wasn't sure if that was a good idea.
Big Phat R
Could you be more specific in regards to using the anti-seize compound.
