my first b18c5, the stock one, was giving me a crapy tach signal.
next b18c5, a jun crate engine that i got a good deal on had NO tach signal.

i traced the wires to a friends b18c hatch and our wiring is identical at the distributor, but i still get no tach.

a brand new dist later, still no signal

next engine.....b20z with the jun head.....NEW dist. still no signal, swap to a jdm dist with plug, still no tach worky worky

it could be your ecu???? did you check that

 

ive used 2 other ecu's....still the same problem

 

maybe its your tach?

 

It's gotta be the harness in b/w then. Distributor to C223 on the passenger-side shock tower just underneath the strut bar and then C223 to ECU. Check them for continuity.

Find the wire colors and go to town on it with your multimeter.

Check the ICM while you're at it too. Maybe both are bad.
