How different is it? Should I just get a new set for the accord?

you don't want to mess with it b/c it will eventually become a safety issue...if you cut it appart and reweld it so that it does fit the accord, then you will possibly have a safety problem depending on the quality of the weld...just get some recaro railings...they are nice enough to spend some $$$ on...
