june bug under the valve cover
I was adjusting my valves tonight and a stupid *** june bug flew into the head and was crawling around in the oil.. it stopped crawling by the time I got done adjusting the valves and then I couldnt find it so I never got it out.
Would that bug be able to damage anything once I start the car?
I actually already started the car and it ticks really loudly.. Im guessing its from my poorly done 1st valve job, it couldnt be from the bug could it?

i really doubt the ticking is from the bug. that thing is prob gone. im not sure if it would damage or not. it might since that gunk wil get mixed up with your oil which goes through the whole motor. dont want anything cloging a oil passage.
id go back over that exhaust side and check it with the feeler gauge. its not really a pain in the *** cause you dont have to jack the car up or anything. just pop the valve cover off and turn em like you did tonight, and recheck. get to it!

I wouldn't worry about the bug. He won't last long. Plus, he's organic and he'll break down and disappear in your oil. Now, if it was a bit of sand, that would be different
That bug is LONG GONE. He won't harm anything. He'll be the firs tthing stuck in the pickup screen of your oil pickep, though. He'll disappear before you change your oil, most likely.
Pull the VC and recheck tolerances with a feeler gauge. It takes a knack to get it perfect. Just practice, you'll get it. Oh, yeah, stock spec is on a COOL engine, after it's been sitting for some time. Overnight is best.

ok good, I was thinkin since the bug is soft it'd be the thing torn the hell up, not the metal parts of the engine.
And yea I fixed up the vavles.. just didnt have the cylinders at tdc while doing them last time, i was doin somethin weird.. ahh its nice to drive a non-ticking car.

they're realllly annoying bugs that hang around light at night and they always seem to get themselves stuck in little places so that when u next look at that little place, u get a nice dead june bug surprise.
