thinking of a 91-93 accord wagon, and was looking at diff swaps, no w i don't know if i should post this here or in the lude section but, what is the diff between the two to my understanding from what i read i thought that the h23 was the non vtec version from 92 and up ludes and the h22 was the vtec version, help me out, i kinda wanted the non vtec version, either way just would like to know the diff for my knowledge thanks guys
no tec

that's 100 cc's which is quite a bit...as far as no vtec though, may i ask why?...you get more revs, more power, what's not to like about it...h22 will give you 190 or 200 hp depending on jdm or usdm, while h23 will give you about 163ish hp...tourque is about the same at 150 for both...

well the vtec part, hummm. . well the h22 is most likely more then the h23, never found out prices really , but i like underdogs for one, i have a hatch thinking of a ls swap, i want to see waht is possible out of the no tecs, and for another this wagon i want to build is gonna be a daily driver, so upgrading from a f series sohc to a h series dohc ill be getting more displacement, two cams, and a decent daily driver, ill think of the h22 once i do more research on it,
but thanks for the help guys

a swap for a daily driver, maybe just bolt ons but mainly to get more pep in a daily driver, but i might consider the h22, have to look into it more

h23 is better in STOCK FORM for turbo as opposed to the h22a....the issue with the h22a and boost is the ring lands mostly....you could spend a the money to have it done right (sleeving the block, forged lower compression pistons, rods) and then you could run higher boost with good tuning and make some big power, or you could leave it stock and run lower boost and just expect it to go bad before too long....but you're still gonna have a 40hp advantage with the h22a from the start, and that's a lot....and the h22a responds very well to a CAI and exhaust...but the h23 is a lot cheaper too......you have the option of a factory lsd tranny with the h22a, but it WILL bolt onto the h23 and give you better accleration...most people claim to love the h23 tranny better cuz it's geared longer, but all that does is slow you down in the 1/4.....you can run 150mph with the h22a tranny if you want, so it's not geared really low....i like it and it's just right to me....
oh yeah...it's not a good idea to get forged pistons without sleeving it....the parts and labor involved with resleeving is gonna be most of the cost of the whole project...and if you have a 97+ h22a, it needs to have work done so that it has a closed deck like the earlier h22a.....but a lot of people have ran 5-7psi on a completely stock h22a for a year or two of average driving without much trouble....don't expect to get 150K out of it regardless of the mileage on the motor though...
