Changing offset on rims???
i have a set of 16x7 rims w/a 34offset. going to run 205/45 profile tires on them. i was wondering if it would be safe to change the offset of the rim to 38offset by having the rim machined/shaved a bit to achieve a 38offset? a 34offset is a bit too aggressive because it sits really flush w/the fender and will rub my fender/quarter panesl in the front and rear for sure. anyone have any experience in having their rims changed to a different offset and pros and cons about doing this? thanx
you can do it, but I will tell you that two problems exhist...
1. On a 00 Si, you are going to need to get closer to 42 offset to not have rubbing, and that is a LOT of rim to shave off. doing so is going to weaken the rim a LOT.
2. this may cause the lugnuts to be too long to fit on closed end lugnuts, so you will have to use open end style (I guess this isnt really a "problem", just more money to spend.

thanx for the reply Damon! yah, 42offset would be the ideal offset for a 16x7 rim, but i'm currently running a 16x7 rim w/38offset and i like how it looks. being that my other set is a 34offset, machining it to be a 42offset would be too much, that's why i'm lookin to make it to a 38offset. anyone have any experience w/changing the offset of their rims?? how much does it cost??
