Default civic lip on a del sol.... which fits best?

i hear things like....

eg will be the best fit and ek will give you less gaps. once and for all....if i were to get a mock spoon lip, which would fit best on a del slo. an eg lip or an ek lip? anyone?

Get an Ek lip, I bought the eg type r style lip for my sol and it was too short, then I tried the same lip from an ek and it reached all the way around had to force it a little but it made it all the way around the bumper. I wish they made these lips specifically for sol's.

personally I think the 96-98 lip would look better.

You should check out a stock front bumper from a 92-95 civic coupe on a del sol, it looks really nice, I wish I had the pic.

You can't just throw a bumper from a 92-95 civic on a del sol they are completly different to do that you need the headlights, hood, fenders, and bumper plus a lot of custom work

WTF does this have anything to do with this topic??? we are all asking about which lip fits the del sol best...not the f'in bumper!
Nebula- what exactly do you mean by eg type r lip? TIA

i know for a fact that an ex lip from a 92-95 civic will fit perfectly onto a del sol bumper so i don't see why another lip for a 92-95 wouldn't fit on a del sol. my friend had an 99-00 si lip on his del sol with a little less then an inch stickin out each side.

-personally if it doesn't matter to you what year lip is on your car, then i'd go with the lip for a 96-98 to be on the safe side. if it doesn't fit you can atleast make it shorter. kinda ghetto though, but whatever works. hope that helps.

as far as ek lips go... youd think that they would all be the same. personally i was looking at the "civic type r" lip that is on gbc but they sell them for different years. still kinda shady

i had a 92-95 civic ex lip on my sol, it fit nice, but not perfectly, it need to be stretched in order to make it fit. I've heard the 99-00 lips fit better.

You guys need to realize.... the stock 92-95 Civic EX/Si lip bolts from underneath the bumper, so it can be stretched out and fitted on easier. The Mugen/Spoon/Type R style lips all lay up against the bumper so if you stretch it out to fit the Del Sol bumper, then it'll come up shorter on the sides. Looking at all 3 "Mugen style" lips here at the shop, the 96 and 99 Civic bumpers look longer so they'd wrap around better. But then there's the middle part, where the 99 lip isn't as wide as the 96 lip so it might fit into the center grill gap better. I have not personally done this to a Del Sol (I was however test fitting them onto my DA to see what cutting was needed) so I can't say for sure what will and won't work on a Del Sol, but that's just some things to take into consideration.

Dam I forgot about this post, so I'll bringing it back up, The lip I was talking about that fits is the 99-00 type r style lip that abs plastic makes, Thats the one that reaches around the delsol bumper its not perfect you have to really stretch it out with some muscle, I haven't put it on yet, but I'm sure I can get it on. Also you can use the 96 type r style lips too. I REPEAT DON"T get the 92-95 type r style lip for your delsol It will not go all the way around it comes up short about 3inches. Sorry I wasn't clear. And I'm giving this info from experience, I went through 3 of these dam lips.

compared to the 96, isnt the 99-00 front grill smaller? so the only difference is that i assume. would you know if it needs any modification or trimming to fit inside the facia of a del sol?

that I don't know, but that would be probably the only trimming you do. I think As long as the lip reaches around the whole bumper you'll be alright.
