Default removing exhaust baffling

Hi...I've never had a bike before and I just got a 954RR for graduation. I like the look of my stock exhaust, but want something a little louder. Is there anyway I can remove some of the baffling in the stock exhaust without adversely affecting the bikes performance. Thanks.

Yeah, I realize you can have a pretty loud aftermarket system. But I was wondering if there was anyway to make my stock system a little louder. Thanks again

Depending on how much you gut, and how responsive the ECU is, it will effect performance. You're removing back-pressure and increasing flow. If the ECU doesn't compensate sufficently, you'll be running lean. It's a bit safer to drill holes in the baffling than to gut it wholesale. It's a LOT easier to just buy a slip-on and be done with it. Throw on a D&D, those are loud as crap.

As a side note, I hope you took the MSF, and good luck.

Thanks a lot project_mercy, good info. Do you know of anywhere we I can find some info on how to drill through the baffling and do it correctly, maybe a website or anything? Thanks again.

You could try glass packing. I helped my buddy repack a 748 and it sounds almost identical to termigoni's. Course imo those don't sound that great either. Drilling/removing baffling will give you a raspy ting well before you get any appreciable increase in muscular exhaust tone. You also have to be careful as the 954 should have 2 cats. One in the exhaust can. I believe its welded directly to the case.

How does repacking make the sound different, do you just pack less or what?! Thanks for suggestions, this sounds interesting, maybe I'll give it a try when I learn a bit more.
