Default 2000 SI should I buy?

2000 Honda Civic SI 47K JDM Vtec motor, 5 spd, custom air suspension. $13K, but I can get it down to about $12-$12.5K.... questions, if the air ride suspension bust or breaks sometime in the future....good to put coilovers??? Oh and, this is the only civic that caught my eye....i'm a domestic man...it's either this or a GT/Cobra....

what kind of "JDM Vtec motor" are you speaking of. And AIR suspension? Tell the guy he can keep that and get the stok setup back. sounds shady

that car somes with a DOHC VTEC MOTOR!!!!!

I don't think he would change out the stock 160horse motor for a 170horse motor unless omething really bad happened....but he has air suspension so I doubt it was raced!!!! hmmm makes me wonder....

Check the vin number, cuz it might be an EX converted to an "si".......then you can get it way cheaper...lol

alright I'm one of his friends trying to help him make up his mind. It's really hard trying to explain all this engine swapping stuff to him. I'm gonna go with him to check it out to see what kinda motor it is. Why would someone upgrade the 2000 si motor? sounds stupid to me. I'm trying to get him towards an EG, but he wants a newer car - so that would have no hope... even though a type R swap would make that engine basically brand new all for less than 8k (with car), then some GC's for another 1200 and he's set for less than what he wants to spend

Not to dis on Hondas but I think I would go for the Stang too if you wanna spend that kind of money. Now if you could talk him into an EG then ti would be a different story.

All that for only $13k....with a JDM motor and air suspension, I would expect a higher price. My first guess would be that the modifications have either messed up the car and make it undesirable to drive, or the owner is stupid and wants to throw money away.

Stock '00 Si's with that milage around here go for more than that!

if you think 1200 is how much GC's cost, then you dont need to be advising anyone on buying a car and modding it. Sounds like the blind leading the blind.

If you are dumb enuf to think that, them IM me and I will get you GC's for 999.99 shipped!

Going back to the HONDA Civic Si, I bet you the guy just dosn't know what he is talking about. Bet you its the same stock engine, but is trying to uptalk the car by saying its JDM. Best bet is to try to get a OEM suspension set up and to keep the stupid gas shcoks or whatever it has. Run the vins, car fax and have someone knowledgable inspect it out. Good luck.

The Cobra has a lot more power since it is a DOHC 4-valve head vs. the single cam 2-valve head of the GT.
