installing short shifter...
i have a 99-00 civic ex and i was trying to install a short shifter. but when i installed it, my piping were in the way and i wasnt able to shift into 5th gear and reverse. my pipings arent stock, their 2 1/4 pipings. did i install it wrong or was it the shifter?
What type of shifter is it? I had a "no name" and a DC with a Greddy cat back and they aren't even close. I also put a DC in my Roomies 00 EX with no probs.
I have only heard of a short shifter rattling on the stock exhaust heat sheild. Never heard of problems getting into gear before. That must be some exhaust, usually all aftermarket exhaust hangs lower than stock.

my no name ebay shifter was hitting my stock exhaust. to fix it i got another rubber hanger thingy, got a long bolt and stuck it through the bottom of the rubber hanger already on the hanger and through the top of the 2nd rubber hanger, stuck a nut on it so it wouldn't fall out, and hung the exahust on the lower hanger. dunno if this makes sense or not. good ole diy
. the other option would be to go to a muffler shop and have them make the hanger on the exhaust longer, which requires $. my method doesn't.

I didn't say that. I said that aftermarket cat-backs hang lower and that I have never seen a problem before. I have ONLY seen the counterweight rattle on the stock exhaust. I can't imagine what's going on to prevent from shifting into gear.

You shouldn't have any problems.
Aaah.. I've had my Cs short shifter sitting in the box waiting to be installed. I also have Mugen shifter bushings and ITR shift linkage to install..
