I think i'm getting a good deal. You guys let me know what you think...

1992 Honda Prelude S
81k
5 speed
17" wheels (not sure what brand)
black on black
pioneer head unit with sony subs and amp
$2800 (and most likely even lower, like $2500 or so cause he needs to get rid of it asap cause its the only thing holding him back from moving right now)

the only problem is, it has a salvaged title. the car was stolen from the previous owner, and they took the fenders and hood....all 3 were replaced.

i'm going to look at it tomorow and i'll let you guys know how it goes.

the S is far from fast, don't plan on buying a race car, but if it is in good shape thats a good price, also, carfax that milage, 81k is pretty low for a car that is 11 years old

Too much bad history with the car but if you do get it, I hope you plan on doing a swap. Geo Metros can run circles around that f22.

Peace

unfourtunatly, i've never had full coverage on any of my cars, too expensive in nyc. and plus, i'm only 18 years old, so full coverage is through the roof. i was planning on swapin in an h22 or h23 and doing turbo. i thought i was getting a good deal.

Hey man i say go for it. thats a decent price for the mileage. plus wouldnt insurance be cheaper on an s model than a vtec model. well either way swap in an h22. The s model is the lightest model outa s,si, and vtec.

i'm going to see the car firs thing tomorrow morning. no school tomorrow so first time tomorrow morning is more like noon haha. well i'm gonna try to haggle down to $2000. Then, i'll have a couple thousand to play with. meaning, h23 turbo, or h22. how much are h23's going for?

IMO I would get the H22 if I were you dude. It'll be more expensive, but you get "dat mAd VTEC yO!" (I always wanted to say that... ) And even if you get the H23, the turbo project will suck up all of your extra cash, even if you ghetto-turbo it.

Sang- just so u know when u buy a salvaged title car in the city u have to go thru some special inspection. I have a couple of friends who did that and they told me it was a PITA.

Chk the car thoroughly to see if there was any accidents, as well as if its missing anything. Work ur price down from there. However, I'd have to say that $2800 is a decent price, not great since its salvaged. Just don't expect to get much back if u ever sell it. GL

this is not correct, i have a 96 prelude vtec, with a salvage title, because they stole the seats and door panels out of it. i have full coverage insuarance, like 500,000 anyway, damage or pain! it cost me a pretty penny a month, but my babys worth it!

yes, this is not true. On my car, I have full liability and had to go through no special inspection. I actually went to go look at the car with sang and the car drive like a beaut. Less miles than we anticipated it to be. a few minor blemishes here and there but nothing that cant be fixed with some TLC. I think the car is well worth it especially since sang brought it down to 2600. GET THE CAR MAN!

alright i went and saw the car today. the car drives fine, the clutch dosn't grind or anything. the wheel dosn't shimmy at high speeds, and the throttle responds is good. the car is mechanically in great shape. cosmetically, it needs small things. whoever put on the bumper didn't put a few bolts on, do i would have to just bolt it up again, because right now it dosn't match. quick fix. he's missing the ash tray peiece idea. i can buy one off someone parting their car or something. quick fix. the car is dirty and needs a good vaccum inside. quick fix. the left side front fender needs to be painted. again quick fix. i'll be paying $2600, which i think is still a great deal. I'm talking to my dad tonight and see what he thinks. Let me know what you think about this deal.

Oh, and he's including 2 sets of rims, 1 set is aftermarket, the other is honda. i could sell one of the other, or both, and get new ones, or make up for the money i paid for the car. (ie. if i get 200 for the rims, then i actually only paid $2400)

I have a freshly rebuilt H23 (<5000 mi) for you here in NC! Make me a reasonable offer and it's yours! Hehehe

Anyway, I'd say go for it too! That's a good price for the car. As long as everything checks out ok when you go and look at it, that is!

Good luck, whatever you do!

$2600. I think its an amazing deal. I'm going to probably going to put down a deposit tomorrow, and then pay the rest and pick it up on monday, so i can get plates and drive it home on monday. as soon as i get it, i gotta pick up some bolts that i can fix the bumper with. i'll take plently of pics.

i agree, go for something else unless ur dead set on this. If so, you must definitely consider an h22 swap. Unless, u like it slow.

i'm just wondering why everyone is saying this is a bad deal, and telling me to get something else. what's the reason? because its slow? if thats the reason you guys are telling me not to get this car, then i shouldn't take you advice. i'm buying this car so i can use it as a daily driver, and since its stock, i want to build it up, or do a swap. with the kind of money that i'll willling or able to spend on a car right now, i can't get anything thats not gonna need work and be fast as soon as i get it. I'm not going to take this car to the track, i don't race like a ****** ***** on the streets at night. Yes i want a fast car, with an h22 or h23, but no i'm not willing to wait around and save thousands of dollars more for a fast car.
