Falzen Azenis 215/45/16...... will they fit?
I currently run 205/40/16 Ziex without issue however I would like to run 215/45/16 Azenis instead is there a way to make them fit without rubbing?
BTW its going on a 93 EG HB.

God help you fit that tire on your car. I wanted to run them, but I didnt want to go through all the work and have to worry about scraping up new tires. There def has to be a way though.
theyll fit no problem..you might have minimal rubbing when turning hard if your car is lowered a lot though..have fun with em

205 azenis are thick enough their sidewall is wider than most normal tires... a dude in the itr forum got 205's to fit on 15x8 volk te37's
you will experience sidewall flex with a rim 7 inches and smaller... maybe not so much if your rims are 8 inches wide or 7.5 even...
Why do you want such a wide sidewall.

I'm not looking for a thicker sidewall, I'm more wanting a wider tire(something bigger than 205)

the sidewall on my azenis blew out when the slightest bit of air got out of that tire and I made a hard turn the tire flexed and the rim kissed the sidewall and ripped it clean open...
Good luck going wider than your supposed to because I promise that is going to happen with these tires.

Well I bit the bullet and had the 215's put on and I like them. I did however had to roll the rear quarters and trim the bumper but no biggie. I also went drag racing and while I wasnt able to lower my time my 60' were dropping.
all launches were made @ 6k rpm's
@30 psi I was only able to get 2.2
@22 psi same 2.2
@15 psi I was able to pull 2.1
I need a lot of practice and I'm sure a 1.9-2.0 is possible.... too bad I only got 1 run in @ 15psi.
BTW.... am I suppose to do a burnout with these tires?

well, this wouldn't really apply to you since you have an EG but I'm running 215/45/16 Azenis on my EM1:
- +44 offset
- prokit and illuminas
- I bent where the clips up front and tucked the fender liner = no rubbing

I'm not sure but this set-up seems more suited for RWD.
An issue of of "SportCompactCar" a while ago featured a JDM DC2R with 205/50 on the front and 195/55 in the rear which they say are more popular to grip racers in Japan to have a much balance handling. Personally I have no experience with this set up but it kind of makes sense for FWD to reduce understeering.

I was going to say ALMOST the same thing. Wider tires in the front on a FF Car would seem a better setup.
As for the question at Hand... 215 45 16 is what Spoon puts on thier Car BUT I think they use spacers too. Another point that Someone brought up was that the Falkens are slightly WIDER than other tires. Maybe a 215 40 would work better if they make that Size. Normally you can run 205-45's with 16" with NO PROBLEM 215 45's will result in a taller Side wall which MAY rub a little.

Well so far no problems as long as I dont hit a bump @ full lock. I did roll in the quarters and front fenders but I LOVE these tires, my best 60' has benn a 2.16 so let see if I could get that down some. I also had to cut and bend in the lip on the frame cause it was cutting the middle of the tire like a razor. Going around turn and braking are improved as well. these tires are worth every penny.

How did you do that? That's like . . . not even possible. What were you running, 5psi?

Azenis are not drag tires - they're intended for autocross and HPDEs. The stiff sidewall is very drag-launch-unfriendly.

well I decided to sell the Azenis only because I noticed a big difference in acceleration between my 195/50/15's and my 215/45/16's. It's a pretty big difference too. The 215 were at least 1" taller than my 195's but I never would have thought they created such a difference. I will however purchase 205/50/15's Azenis and hope that they are'nt much taller than my 195's.

Aw, is someone on their HPDE/cone chaser pedestal?
Azenis work about as well as any street tire is going to at the drag strip. Plenty of people in the 1.9-2.0 area... including myself...
Thanks.

I simply said the stiff sidewall is unfriendly for hard launches a the drag strip, and I can attest to this. They also tend to hop a lot when launching on an older car with worn engine mounts and suspension bushings.
I don't appreciate your tone.
Thanks.

The sidewall is not that stiff at 20psi tire pressure.
My old worn out car didn't hop the tires much.
Sorry about the tone, I won't attach the .wav file next time.
