Default what do you use to make your custom gauge pods??

I've seen several people with custom made gauge cages in their center console on ek's behind the cup holder that looks like it's made of some black hard material. What is this stuff??

I have a home-made leather wrapped one but my backing is made of heating duct and the leather is beginning to come off of it...I want something sturdier to stretch the leather over...

help me out guys, thanks.

Who needs 2 cupholders when you can stick a gauge in one!

if you're curious as to how it was made, I took the insert thing taht came with the car, put in some steel bars to support the gauge, wrapped some mesh to make the outside shape, tossed on body filler, sanded it, painted and voila, custom gauge pod. took a weekend to do, including the drying of the body filler.

the type of plastic i think your talking about is called ABS plastic,...its a good material to make gauge holders out of,..i have used it in the past,..but when i did my gauge panel for my show car i had to do something that would look a little better so what i did was i took some plexiglass,...cut it down to shape,...drilled the holes and then wrapped it in black sticker vinyl,....but plexiglass is harder to work with then ABS because plexiglass breaks easier,...sorry i dont have no pics of both my ABS and plexi job,..good luck

Yeah, my engine start button does work, and right now, the black switch doesn't do anything, while the silver turning **** (the white one that you referred to) is used to adjust the rpm activation switch on my autometer shift light.

dnt94civic, nice setup very clean. If you want to go "custom" try walking through home depot and let your mind wander.
