SPU Class
Since I ran this past weekend I wanted to share some information to clear things up about the SPU class.
First and most important is that SPU is a regional class. Each region might have different rules and regulations.
For Example, the SCCA WDCR Region SPU class is defined by anything under 2.0 liters with a fuel cell (fuel cells are not stock tanks).
The SCCA NER region allows anything under 2.6 liters. So you will see the WRX, Audi A4/S4 running in this class as well.
With the WDCR class, cage construction is still the same for IT classes or GT classes.
I hope this helps. FYI this SPU car is also my H1 car.

With it being regional only, you'll find some rules differences.
But basically, from what I can tell, if you have an IT legal cage, fuel cell, and fire SYSTEM you are golden.
You can also run lexan, CF, and true slicks.
Basically, run what cha brung.

In SEDiv, pretty much anything goes. You'll see everything from World Challenge touring cars, to baby grands, honda powered minis, etc. As long as it's under 2.5L of displacement it runs in SPU.
If you're 2.5L+, or running a turbo or supercharger you run in SPO. Everything from Porsches, to GT1 tube frame cars, to one offs here as well.

basically there are 2 types of cages..
The IT and SS cages which are built for slower speed impacts on lighter cars.
And then there are touring and GT cages for faster heavier cars...
or So is my understanding!

Touring (as in T1 and T2) have different cage requirements than Showroom Stock. These also vary from what is required in ITx. And Production and GT have yet another set of regulations.
In some regions, SPU/SPO cars must meet the safety Prod/GT rules. In others, they must only meet ITx. And occasionally they should meet Touring.
You gotta check with your local region to be sure which set of rules apply.

Usually just 1-2 WC cars. I haven't seen the mini in a while, but he only ran Solo I's.
