Default would anyone be interested in a carbon fiber roof?

would anyone be interested in a carbon fiber roof for the ef civic/crx hatch? i know this guy jamie in MD who can make em, great quality. he needs 3 for sure buyers to make it. it shaves about 35 pds off the top of the car, which makes a big difference if you're auto-x or circuit racing. thats with just the replacement so u can still open n' close it. if you choose to get the plug, the weight savings will be more, and it'll cost a bit less. right now i think the replacement is going for 350...anyone interested?

never worry about rust...

I'm confused- is this a moon roof replacement, or is it a roof replacement?

its all carbon fiber...

uses a layer of carbon, with a layer of kevlar, then another layer of carbon. Jamie said that its strong enuf for him to stand on his roof. . but if you're using it as a replacment roof, it will mount to rails and use the stock rubber insulation. If you're just using it as a fill in, then use silicone to weather proof it.

I can totally back this guy Jamie. I have stood on his roof and it is super strong. What this says is correct. They look really nice and yes it goes in place of the sunroof or you can keep the function of the sunroof.

also you can ask for it to be shinny or dull. If it is shinny then it will not be as strong because of the amount of resin in the material. If you would like it dull it will be stronger but not bling bling. Either way, still looks good.

If you would like a plug, it revits to the car and if you want function, it just goes inplace of the glass.

If the price is right, I will buy a dull one. I would also need one that replaces my factory sunroof plug. 89 CRX si. Thanks, Ryan

actually most of the weight lies in the glass on the rex's , a CF hatch would be very time consuming and I dont think the cost would warrant the weight savings.

heres a pic of the two sunroof plugs I've done so far....

the pictures dont really do the final product justice , but you can see they are all CF/kevlar construction , no fiberglass **** here , total weight of the plugs is less than a lb.

price would be 350 for a functional , a litte less than that for a non functional one that would be permanently affixed to the car , weould need three people ready to buy to get this going....

Jaime - Did you ever get a sunroof from a CRX to make the mold off of for the functional panel?

I'm starting my own sunroof plug project, but now I have two sunroof panels from a CRX laying around in my garage. The one I took off of my CRX last night - the chunks of rust that fell out of it were everywhere!!! But the other one I have from a junkyard isn't nearly as bad.

The plug you made on the white car looks really, really nice...super high quality.

I'd like one as long as it is secure, airtight, easily removable for cruising, and won't fly off when I'm playing on the interstate!

I would be interested in the whole door, if you ever think about producing any other parts.
