Skunk2 coilovers or Ground control?
i'm looking to upgrade to coilovers so I can adjust the rideheight of my car. Since I can't yet afford the likes of H&R, TEIN, or even Tokico. I'm looking at the cheaper alternatives: Ground Control and Skunk2. I don't want to get the ebay stuff, since that stuff sucks. I've seen it lock up and just plain drop on you all a sudden. pretty scary and dangerous.
Anybody have Skunk2 or Ground Control coilovers experience? Lemme know what you guys think about them.

anybody got an idea what would be a good spring rate for a 95 civic coupe with a hybrid turbo sitting in front? as it is right now, the extra weight upfront is making the car sit lower than the eibach's were intended to be.

The consensus here seems to be that Gc's are better than Skunk2. but is that one hand locking perch thing from gc safe? and can anyone provide me with suggestions for the spring rate to be used with my setup? it would be great if someone has experience with both and is willing to share it. thanks

so does skunk2.
Skunk2 gives you custom rates and spring length.
6-8" springs available.
GC's are cool if you get custom spring rates but the off the shelf ones are too soft. they suck....
and yes I have owned both sets.

I have had GC for the past 5 years and they're still goin' strong. as for your comment on the locking perch. it's SAFE, but the drawback about that is "eventually" the locking screw will be rusted.
(personal experience) if you live in a state that is wet and this is your "daily driver" it might be a problem later. other than that I'm HAPPY with my GC's!

Ive had Ground controls in the past and loved them. To me ground controls are a bit better that Skunk 2 because the springs are made by ebiach(one of the best springs in the world) they also carry a lifetime warranty and will never sag. Also as far as the bolt on the GC's just put some antiseize on it so it wont get stuck.
How were the Skunk2 coilovers. given the same spring rate, which one would you pick? i'm gonna be using regular tokico blues with it for now, until i can afford illumina. are they gonna be ok to use with gc or skunk2? as for the spring length, what's the handling&ride difference for 6 or 8" springs? thanks for all the great input here!
Ive got the skunk2 civic coilovers on my car paired up with tokico 5-way adj. illuminas. I like the ride a lot, theyre not that soft, then again maybe thats because my shocks are set to 5. Either way, I like the ride and the infinite height adjustability makes them much better than my old neuspeed springs. Just go with whatever you can get the better deal on.
well you can get 6, 7, or 8" springs with them.
I had a set for the Civic's and the rates were:
front: 448lbs
rear: 336lbs
People may complain that the skunk2's are bouncy compared to the GC and thats because the off the shlf GC's are mega soft.
Whatever coilover sleeve you choose, do not get Tokiko blues. they suck. save up a little more and at least get KYB AGX's...

if u wanna ride ok just get the integra off the shelf GC's....other wise 375 front and 275 rear woiuldbe too bad on a 7 inch spring...u can go pretty low with that...
mines are 450 front 7inch and 375 rear 6 inch....the end result...this isnt maxed

if you want to lower your car just for looks(sLaMmeD tO tHa Flow dAwG), then I can't help you with that.
If you are doing it for handling and performance then you know that slammed to the floor isn't helping you much at all.

damn this question gets asked a million times, and this thread still got a bunch of replies. while i search for info that i end up not finding, then create a thread to find out, but i get 1 or no replies. guess i'll go eat worms!
i have the skunk2 coilovers for tegs on my 92 si hatch, they may seem a bit stiff, but id rather have a stiff ride then a soft and bouncy ride, i lowered my car approximately 2 inches all around and i think it rides good but really stiff
i'm getting coilovers cuz my hybrid turbo set up is weighing down my eibach's too much. lotsa tire rub even in moderate turns. the height adjustability of coilovers should help me get rid of that. anyone got a good spring rate and length combo for a 95 hybrid turbo coupe? the end result should be something that is stiff and actually improves handling. I'm not going for the "slammed because it looks sweet on my ride." maybe only when showtime comes around

Just get either Skunk 2 or GC with an integra spring rate and you will be fine. With my experience SK2 is way stiffer than most GC I have ridden in, but then again they probably have the Civic spring rates..
