Calling All D Series Junkies...
Ok guys, I have searched and searched and have not come out with the straight up answer I need. So...
I own a 97 slo S, with a D16y7. No-Tec, Inverted throttle body, 72k and counting, yada yada. And I am an noob at my own motor, I don't know **** about it or what is compatable with it. In fact, i don't know **** about any D series for that matter. Anyways, my goal for the summer is to add a little bit more umph, in the form of a new exhaust and a z6 head/IM/TB. Not a very lofty goal, but I am a broke *** college student.
So, the tech-
Exhaust-
After I got this idea in my head, I went outta lookin at everything, really looking at things for the first time. Now, I was just going to use the stock exhaust mani. and cat (which is also inverted, oddly enough), but when I got to lookin, I peered around the heat shield for the first time, and low and behold, they look like one peice. Which baffled me.
So, because I am a broke *** college student, I am looking for a mid grade header that will fit the z6/y7. One with a place for the o2 sensor. That way, I can just run that down, straight pipe it ( I know, I know, it smells, but I can't afford a high flow) and on back to my Oval.
Moving on.
Head-
As I said, I want to put a z6 head on there so I can get Vtec y0. However, I have no idea how to do this, and what exactly I need to do the conversion. I do however, want to do the work myself, or at least with my friends (my friends here are knowledgeable about cars, just not hondas) You know, that way I can say I did all the work myself, didn't have to shop it, cause I already did all of my suspension ****. But I digress...
If you can help me out with a list of items I might need to purchase, and perhaps a little how too, I would be overly appreciative.
If you can help, I bow to your greater knowledge.
