so i'm pulling my wheels tonight to adjust my coil-overs and i notice what looked kinda like a water line on my right front wheel....upon closer inspection it was a crack all the way throught the spoke!!!!! only had these wheels for a year and i broke one....i guess that's what i get for buying 11 lb cast aluminum wheels. good thing i have a back-up set...and whats funny is my back-up set are 15x7s vs my konig hellium 15x6.5s.

so now i'm in the market for some inexpensive wheels, preferably 15x7. any suggestions? i like the pro race 1, and that new enkei wheel (RF-07 maybe??)

You want to get a new set? Why can't you just replace the one you broke?

 

while it would be easy to replace the one i broke, i'm not making the most of my azenis running them on a 6.5inch rim....i really want to find some 7 or 7.5 inch wheels to mount my azenis on. right now i'm looking at some diamond racing 15x7.5s...while not the lightest, they certainly are easy on my college student budget

 

There is the 15x7 Rota that should arrive soon that everyone is talking about.

yup....i have the konig helliums, which are very similiar to the rota circuit 8s.

since i seem to have been living under a rock (prolly cause i didn't really need wheels so i never paid attention to the rota 15x7s) what rota wheel is being offered in 15x7? slipstream?

 

Wow, that's kinda scarey. Its good that you caught problem before it got worse.

I would contact the vendor that sold you the wheel and/or Konig. I think they would be willing to replace the wheel(s).

Good that you found that crack before the wheel failed in the middle of a corner. I broke the center out of and old wheel on track a few years ago. Trashed a fender, LCA, rotor, tire... just lucky I didn't trash the whole car!

 

Call Keith. He can probably get a replacement for free. Then you can sell the wheels and get your diamonds.

 

good news, konig did indeed warranty my wheel. should have a new one early next weekend. to konig for being very cooperative with warranty to konig for my cracked wheel. so i'm still undecided about konig :shrugs:

 

not to hijack, but im hearing the team dynamics are cracking as well. so u may want to stray from them even tho there 15x7, cheap, light(ish) and good looking.
has anyone else heard of the td's cracking?

wheels are a wear item!

you do not need to stay away from any wheel for any reason. They crack under hard use and must be inspected regularly. Use 16 lb stock alloys on the track if you want less hassle.
