Default nooobie ZC swap questions.

Hi there,

Noobie to this forum and have a couple of questions about ZC motors and swaps as I am thinking about doing a ZC swap on my 91 Civic Si.

What major differences will I find between the SOHC ZC and the DOHC ZC's .

I beleive that the SOHC will fit all the the bolts ons that i currently have on my stock D16A6, however the DOHC may not

Im guessing the DOHC is obviously more tunable.

Are the HP and torque ratings equal on both motors?

Are both straight bolt in's to my car right now, or will the DOHC need new mounts?

What hazzards or downfalls are there in doing a ZC swap. most forums and articles I have read are all very positive and for the money it seems like a great choice. Are there any dark sides to this idea??

Any extra links or good articles any one can provide would be great.

thanks for your help..

the dohc zc is pretty much a straightforward swap, same mounts & wiring harness, you'll just need to extend 2 wires & rewire the dizzy plugs, not a big deal at all.

Hey man, I'm in Surrey, BC. Feel free to IM me any questions you have. Your D16A6 header will bolt up, but it needs to be port matched. Very straight forward swap. You may have to shim the engine mounts or hood, because sometimes the valve cover hits the hood. If you're looking for a local place to buy a ZC, try http://www.spituning.com, and tell em Matt S. sent ya. My brother and I both bought B16 swaps off these guys, they were pretty good.

Why go with the swap? Is your motor in bad condition or do you just want something with more power?
If its for the power then DON'T do it... It's not worthy. If it was a DX or HF yeah, but not with an SI. you have so much potential with that engine, and the money you gonna spend on the ZC you can use for the A6...
