dc5 type s/ non-type s motor differences??
here's the dilly: I'm gonna purchase a dc5 and i'm planning on converting the motor to type r specs. I wanted to know if the non-type s engine can be converted so i can can save the extra cash and insurance money by buying a regular rsx (i will also be changing over the brakes and many of the sus. parts.) someone let a brother know wussup. I need to get started on my togue monster

You'd be better off just doing a motor swap, cause as far as I know, the K20A3 blows...You'd have to change heads, at the least...also, I'm not sure if all RSX's have the larger intermediate shafts and hubs that the Type-S does, but for the sake of longevity you might want those too. Just turbo that sumbitch, turbo'd K20A2's make mad power.

i appreciate the support, but i still didnt get the answer i'm looking for. I just want to know if the type s and non share the same basic engine parts. My assumption is that the only differences are the cams, pistons, and perhaps manifolds (i'm thinking purely engine here, folks). So forget i ever said anything about swapping to type r.
dude.. get the S
the amount of difference between the base k20a3 and S k20a2 can not be summed up in the msrp price difference.... and the most pivotal differences being (3) rocker arms on the k20a2, i and e manifolds, compresison, on and on.
if you want to do turbo(im not a fan) you can make huge power, and for about $4000-5000 on a k20a2, you could also have around 220whp NA, which is prettttty damn decent for street.
