Default ok, this is stupid, but...

Can you guys give some tips on how to seal up a hole on the bottom of the stock muffler? I can't afford my exhaust system yet, so I want to go ghetto and fix it with something homemade. I tried duct tape and pop cans, but it blew out. The Crappy tire muffler sealer kit didn't work either. Any tips?

Just get a $10 generic "turbo" muffler and some clamps from your local auto parts store.

I made the mistake of going to my local muffler shop for a "temprary fix" until I could get the HKS system I wanted.... $200.00 later I got an "econo" muffler and all new 1 7/8 crush bent pipes because "the old ones were just too rusted out" and when he put the new pipes in, he left the resonator out so now my car sounds like sh@@!

What about that aluminum tape stuff to repair exhaust leaks? I don't know how well it would work, but the stuff is pretty cheap. Might be worth a shot.

For a real temp fix do what I did. Take a piece of metal, a ball peen hamer, and a aluminum baseball bat. Then take the metal and shape it to the shape that you want over the bat with the hammer. Then if you can go to the local hardware store and get those metal clamps that you can tighten with a flat head screwdriver. Then put the metal on there, clamp it down and test out how quiet it is. If it is still loud then go and get some high temp sillicone and go around the edges of the metal plate and go crazy. Fill in all the corners and edges with a huge **** load of sillicone. It should be fine for about a week or so.
